Productive environment requiring you to be on your feet for long shifts
Converting Lead Technician (Current Employee) –  Memphis, TNMarch 14, 2017
Hours are long shifts and shifts flop. The job is not a hard job, however, the challenge is the shift hours. If you like money this is the job for you.

Room for advancement, good pay, high stress, easy work
Maintenance Technician (Current Employee) –  Memphis, TNFebruary 26, 2017
I've worked there for 12 years. The pros of working there are the pay and insurance, which are negotiated by the union. The cons; it takes a long time to accumulate vacation time; but the rotating schedule gives you 6 days off in a row every month, which helps make up for it. The attendance policy is a no-fault policy which makes it hard because we have no sick days, but usually they try and work with you. The pay ranges from $10.00/hr to $30+/hr and we get a guaranteed 2% raise every year. We do have a high turnover, but about 2/3 of it is due to newer employees that can't handle the shift and some are just lazy. The other turnover is because managers in different areas are hard headed and don't listen and don't let us do our job the right way, so people don't feel that their input is valued and get frustrated and quit. There is very little structure across the mill because every department operates differently and has its own set of rules. Most of the managers that have been there for a long time are some of the best people to work with, but a lot of the newer ones are bullies and will throw you under the bus in a heartbeat if you try to stand up for what's right. We have a lot of employees who are out for themselves and don't understand the meaning of standing together to get things done, so when they get canned, they blame the union or anything else but themselves. You can make just about all the money you want, the insurance is excellent, free dental for single, cheap vision insurance, good 401k plan, up to 4 weeks of vacation with 2 personal days. If you are a good worker  more... who can show up to work on time, you shouldn't have any issues. My advice to you is join the union and let the union handle any issues you may have and usually they will get resolved. This company is good for long term employment but the management has to learn to respect the employees and the employees have to learn to stick together.  less
Pros
Good health benefits, 401k, vision, dental. Easy work.Union shop
Cons
Hard headed managers, some ignorant coworkers, no sick days

It was fun operating different assembly lines
Assembly Line Operator (Former Employee) –  Memphis, TNMay 28, 2016
Fun you always had something to do to that occupied your time and I learned how to operate different machines and I learned how to make toilet paper and paper towels. Management was good because they were always helpful and coworkers were fun because everyone had good attitudes and personality's. The hardest part of the jobs was staging and the most enjoyable was working with different machines

Pretty cool work environment
Machine Operator (Current Employee) –  Memphis, TNJanuary 18, 2016
You usually only have one week that you actually get 40 hours a week, every other week is 40+.OT usually is based around another person being absent fo some reason, you will work anywhere from 8 to 16 hours in a day .They rotate from days one week to nights the next and one time each month not counting your other off days you will have 6 consecutive days off which is always nice ,on some occasions you might have to work a day or two or even all of them when your're off.Pay is great and mixed with the over time it really gives you a chance to catch up on some bills or just buy some other things in general.Labor wise its nothing hard or physically demanding.Management seems to be ok,only thing I usually hear people complain about is not having enough time for their family but other than that its a pretty good place to work
Pros
Good pay, insurance, not physically demanding
Cons
Dusty, some machines are outdated, only 5 points for attendance

worst place to work for in memphis
Line Lead / Winder Technician (Former Employee) –  memphis,tnMarch 7, 2015
the worst work enviroment i have ever encountered. The entire management team including HR needs to be replaced. Very bullish work place. Management doesn't know how to talk and be respectable to employees. No room for advancement unless u are involved in the ongoing buddy systems.. Job skills do not get you ahead they only leave you stuck in that position. Decent pay but you have no time for family. You dont get to take your vacation days when u want them.. The rotating schedule in use is the worst on your body. The Union doesn't do anything for the employees so there is no need to join.
Pros
decent pay
Cons
management, healthcare cost, union, work enviroment

Company boost high turnover record in Memphis
Machine Operator (Former Employee) –  Memphis TnMarch 14, 2013
The culture of this company is the worst I have ever experienced. The mill is a nasty place, floors are never sterilized and product is dropped and returned to the line packaged and sold. Out dated machinery constantly back down. Management bullies employees and the union is worthless and uninformed. Schedules are continuously changed, from week to week, from day to night and employees’ lives, health and welfare is totally disregarded. This place is the worst.
Pros
benefits and pay is good but not worth the long hard hours and ever changing schedule
Cons
management unprofessional and bullies, no real union support
