Cons: children not wanting to work all the time
This job is a wonderful job that has much room to grow. Must have a lot of patience and love working with children. Most of the clients are speakers of other languages trying help their children get up to sped in reading. Co-workers are very friendly and very helpful. This job is very flexible with work schedule. They can also help you with your school – more... work by reading your papers for class or help in math classes as well. – less

Kumon Feels like home!
Data Entry (Current Employee), New York, NY – April 15, 2013
Pros: great team work, beautiful children, and understanding managemet
Cons: not enough hours
Kumon is a wonderful place to work. The team there is incredible, we all get a long. I leaned how to be a team player, when one co worker is down, it is my obligation to make sure he/she get motivated. We work with children to enhance their education, you have to have excitement to keep the children focus on their work.

The management is very flexible – more... but stern at the same time. They usually do not have to show the controlling side, because we all do our work to the best of our abilities.

I wish we were open Monday- Saturday, but we are closed on Tuesday, Friday, and Sunday. I think the days we are closed is the hardest part for me to endure.

The most enjoyable part is seeing the kids smile when they receive their Achievement Certificate. This lets me know the work we do is not in vain. – less

Productive and Enriching
Office Manager/Tutor/ Receptionist (Current Employee), Vallejo, CA & Benicia, CA – February 25, 2013
At Kumon, I am able to express myself while also getting the opportunity to assist posterity in their development. I act as a guide to the students while also being allowed the opportunity to learn from them. I've learned how to multi-task and have become quite comfortable with that skill. I often even find it too monotonous if I am not doing at least – more... four things at a time. The hardest part of the job is also the most enjoyable. Working with students can be very taxing, they have a million and one questions and never allow me to take a break but I enjoy being a role model. I enjoy being able to say that I, even in some small way, assisted a child in being the best possible versions of themselves. – less

Productive workplace, fun staff, and challenging but rewarding.
Assistant (Current Employee), Chesterfield, MO – February 4, 2013
A typical day includes grading papers as well as teaching students as they come in. I have learned, and maintained, much of my knowledge about math and reading working here as well as have learned to multitask effectively. My manager is friendly and easy to talk to as well as very helpful in providing insight for any problems I bring forth. My co-workers – more... are friendly and are able to do their jobs effectively, thus lightening the overall workload. The most challenging part of my job is effectively teaching several students at once while trying to grade a decent amount of homework. The most enjoyable part of this job is the feeling of accomplishment when a student succeeds due to my teaching. – less

Great place to work for college and high school students
Office Manager (Former Employee), Highland Village, TX – September 10, 2012
Kumon is a great and fun place to work for any student looking for part-time work so that they can attend class during the day. Management at the Highland Village location is fabulous. She knows what it's like to have a young child while working and is very accommodating.

Productive and easy working with students and parents.
Business Administrator (Current Employee), Sacramento, CA – September 4, 2012
Pros: love working with children, good hours, and pressure free work environment.
Cons: very little training, communication barriers, poor work culture and management
Working here is almost a daily routine. I handle all correspondence before and after the office hours and respond to inquiries. I file student folders into their proper boxes. Handles new parent orientations and at time of enrollment. During the opening hours, I work with at least 5 young children on their Kumon Math and Reading materials daily. I also – more... grade and record student assignments. I am responsible for giving both diagnostic and achievement tests. – less

Tutoring at Kumon
Tutoring (Former Employee), Marietta, GA – June 19, 2012
Not enough one-on-one help time and very rigid schedule for children. It seemed to make all the kumon packets just work for the students and they absolutely dreaded it.

Great Job!
Assistant Instructor (Former Employee), McKinney, TX – April 19, 2012
Pros: great staff
Cons: nothing
The hardest part of the job was all the homework and classwork you have to make. The most enjoyable part of the job is seeing the lighbulb go off in their head and they finally get it.

Great Learning experience, but too little pay
Tutor (Current Employee), Brampton, ON – April 21, 2013
Pros: great learning environment
Cons: salary was too little, waste of paper.
Although the pay was fairly little, it gave me an amazing oppotunity to interact with kids. I learned how to discipline the kids through ways which actually work. For example; looking them in the eye and speaking in a stern voice.

It was fun to work for Kumon. It felt like I am still connected to education. At the same time it was an opportunity to learn customer service, time management, team work, leadership, organization while honing your interpersonal skill. The hours were flexible allowing work family life balance.

classroom assistant (Current Employee), levenshulme – March 10, 2013
Pros: hourly pay is good
Cons: not enough hours
A typical day at work at the moment is constant work we dont really take breaks we just have work to do and work threw it at a fast pace.
what i have learn in my current and passed jobs is that what you put in you get back so if you put in 110% youll seek the benefits from it later on.
as for co-workers we have a professional relationship and dont speak – more... in work we get on with are work and rarely find a reason to need to converse with the other , other than on a proffesional basis.
The hardest part of the job i would say is when there are few of us and there is more pressure but we deal with the pressure and use it to motivate are selves to complete the tasks that need doing.
id say the most enjoyable part of the job is the pay the more time and effort you put in you will be happy with the pay you get at the end of the month and then this will help to motivate us for the following month to make us strive to work harder to earn more money , aslong as you try your hardest youll find it very hard to get bored at work . – less

English Tutor (Current Employee), Brampton, On – February 9, 2013
Cons: no benefits
A typical day at work includes setting up, marking comprehension books and teaching children of various ages English and Math concepts. I've learned how to co-operate with other people, communicate with parents, how to keep a safe an productive learning environment, etc. The hardest part of the job is dealing with children who don't want to do the work – more... or are being disruptive. The most enjoyable part is helping children who want to learn and making a difference in their lives. – less

Running and Education Franchise
Instructor (Current Employee), Loughton – February 9, 2013
Good things:
Working with children helping them to grow in confidence and ablity, being master of my own time. Meeting parents and developing good working relationships with them.

Bad things:
Sometimes the franchisor seems to have his own ideas of what suits best and it is not always applicable for individual centres such as my own. Regular rule changes – more... and removing key motivational targets for students does not help retention figures – less
