Medicare Compliance Advisor (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CASeptember 11, 2017
Poor management and lack of upward mobility. Management does not follow their policies and procedures regarding discipline. I would not recommend this job to a friend.

Entry level organization
Product Management (Former Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAMay 25, 2017
LA Care is an entry level organization in the health care sector. They do thrive in Medi-cal management but has not kept up with the industry. Room for improvement for both staff, management and overall health plan portfolio.

Great company tou should know, if you're comparing schools, that higher education institutions count credits in different ways. AIU, for instance, measures credits in quarter hours. Other schools measure credits in semester hours. (For comparison's sake, 180 quarter hours equals 120 semester hours.)o work for

Was the place to work in
Intern (Current Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAApril 25, 2017
The dynamic culture is within LA Care. Fun and good place to learn a lot of the Healthplan world in LA Care. Must be open minded about changes due to being a public entity. Passed couple of months major restructure has been going within the company. Not sure why you would have to re apply for a job you have been doing for so many years. To many CHIEFS, and a good percentage don't know what they are doing. Use to be major growth opportunity now with a new sheriff in town the company seems to go in a different direction with down sizing, and getting rid of the people that actually make a difference.
Pros
Good Benefits, 401k match option, Pto, D Town LA
Cons
Management only take care of their own.

Customer solution center
CSR (Current Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAMarch 13, 2017
To work in this call center you need to be A+ 24/7. Your calls need to be 100% and missing work or being late is not an option. Doctor notes are not even excused anymore. You are every move is timed, from the time you leave your desk until you are back. Mandatory OT everyday.
Pros
Full benefits as soon as you are hired
Cons
Micro manging / No raise

A help for many people who do not have health insurance.
Member Service Representative (Current Employee) –  Los Angeles, CAFebruary 28, 2017
A typical work day consists of taking many in-bound calls. Keeping the calls as short and accurate as possible.
I've learned how to handle a high call volume.
There is too much micro-management. "Too many hands in the cookie jar".
There is a variety of culture at L.A. Care.
The hardest part of the job is when there are no calls coming in and you are not allowed to read a book or magazine to pass the time.
The most enjoyable part of my job is helping the members. I really do enjoy educating the new members as to what their benefits are here at L.A. Care.
Pros
Good benefits and perks.
Cons
Too many managers, senior supervisors, supervisors and leads. There is also very high turn around at L.A. Care.

Interesting work place. Like everywhere else, it is what you make it. I was able to advance very quickly. They do believe in hiring from within, which is a good thing.

Quality Auditor (Current Employee) –  Los Angeles, CADecember 28, 2016
L.A. Care carries out its mission and vision statements throughout the company. The Co-workers are great and have become a second family. Management should take two steps back and come up with strategies and focus more on how to help an employee grow versus micro-managing their employee's skillsets.

I enjoy working for L.A. Care Health Plan. Hopefully someday I will be allowed an opportunity to grow within the company.
Pros
Great atmosphere. Quality Auditing department has been stable, not a lot of overturn which is good.
Cons
Too many Chiefs, not enough Indians. I disagree with their micro-management techniques.
