multitask/effecient/fast paced stressful yet exciting dept.
Access Representative/Emergency Room (Former Employee) –  Beverly, MAAugust 7, 2015
greeting patients at triage, signing them in, registrations, verifying insurances, registering patients coming in by ambulance in trauma zone, assisting patients family members, co payment collections, admissions from ER to floor. Co workers all very helpful. Work together.
'When a patient has passed away in front of you after you have watched them do everything they can to save them and then the reactions from family members.
the cardiac arrests that arrive by ambulance. This is the most difficult part of job. The fast pace and how everybody has a role in a trauma situation. 'the er is truly like a family. Loved every day I worked there. You learn when to be sensitive to patients needs,
Pros
meet alot of nice patients, being able to help people, and make a difference in their life. very challenging.
Cons
No cons. Lunch times cut short due to high volume patients.

Economic Failure
Epic SME (Current Employee) –  MAJuly 21, 2015
Trust the vendor is the foundation of this infrastructure implementation that as a result lost 25 million dollsrs at go-live. This system was riddled with a marid of technical bumblings due to vendor errors, lack of accountability, lack of dicipline, lack of communicatons, and hero syndromes in production and Windows Farm management. Lack of communications, accountability and dicipline are strong attributes within this culture the reason being is the belief (young person's error) that executive management is incapable of understanding the complexity of an IT EMR system. What should otherwise qualify as a classified environment trucking through the Internet, barely meets the bar of a college campus operations. Lack of technical experience and dissarray of executive leadership (emporer with no clothes) will continue to plague this implementation. They will continue to spend more money and get less ROI because the technicians run the operations without proper management oversight.
Pros
Replaces Windows-based EMR AllScripts
Cons
The same Tech Staff in charge of their last failure are in charge of this one (Windows).

access representative (Former Employee) –  beverly, maSeptember 2, 2015
I always went in early to get everything organized for the day. On a typical day we could have 30-50 people and it could get very hectic. I learned that I could handle almost every situation that occurred. The nurses and the manager of Endoscopy were some of the finest people I ever had the privelege of working with. The hardest part of the job was keeping track of the current status of the patients. The best part of the job was interacting with the patients and their families.
Pros
Great work environment
Cons
not enough support when epic came in

Medical Assistant (Current Employee) –  Burlington, MASeptember 21, 2014
Management plays favorites, hostile work environment, if your not in the "click" your time there will be short lived. GIM is called the armpit of the hospital. Lahey is a great place to work, BUT choose a different department if you want long term employment.

Not sure if I can sign my name, but am definitely willing to
Pros
if you want your foot in the door, go for it, although you have to survive 6 months there before switching departments.
Cons
to many to list

Applications Analyst III (Current Employee) –  Burlington, MASeptember 9, 2015
Senior Management team does not respect the colleagues.
Since go live you need to be on call 24 / 7 with no compensation for that. Culture is awful. Senior VP makes comments like " There are 48 hours in weekend"
Pros
Free epic certification
Cons
Management is awful

Associate Director of Creative Services (Current Employee) –  Burlington, MAJuly 29, 2013
A typical day is busy. Multiple projects at once. Good project manager to help organize projects. Great writers to supply factual and inspiring content. Direction of overall vision of organization is poor.

Applications Analyst (Current Employee) –  Burlington MAMay 30, 2015
The first year working here was unbelievable. It was a learning environment and everyone was happy to be there. After about the one and a half year mark everything changed - longer work weeks, no bonuses, and overall the moral was very low.
