The aptly-named Lake Hospital System (doing business as Lake Health) serves several northeastern Ohio communities located on the shore of Lake Erie and throughout Lake County. The system is comprised of two main hospital campuses (TriPoint Medical Center and LakeWest) which together house about 300 beds, as well as seven ancillary facilities offering rehabilitative care, outpatient surgery, urgent care services, primary care and specialist doctors' offices, and diagnostic imaging, among other medical services. Founded in 1902 by the Daughters of the American Revolution, the system has been undergoing almost continuous expansions for the past several years.
Most recently Lake Health built the TriPoint Medical Center, which replaced LakeEast Medical Center when it closed in late 2009. The new $155 million medical center has private patient rooms, digital technology, and integrative medicine therapies, such as healing touch and music therapy.
Earlier in 2009 Lake Health partnered with the local school district to open its ninth facility, a walk-in and primary care center. The previous year was a particularly big one for Lake Health in terms of construction. The system opened a new campus, four urgent care centers, a wound care center, and a renovated catheterization lab.
The system also operates the Lake Health Physician Group which is comprised of a range of doctors from family practitioners to OB-GYNs and vascular surgeons. – less
