Lamp Community ends homelessness of Los Angeles' most vulnerable individuals, primarily adults with mental illness, through a continuum of services and housing, enabling them to reach their highest level of self-sufficiency and community integration.

Associate Director of Development -- (Up to 75K DOE)

The Associate Director of Development is responsible for producing foundation and corporate proposals, designing and managing the annual fund campaign, managing all development operations including solicitations, grant, event and communications calendars, as well as database integrity. The Associate Director of Development will plan and execute cultivation and stewardship events and manage the Fall Affair Advisory Committee. The Associate Director of Development will also provide support to the Director of Development and Chief Executive Officer with Board relations, Board and Development committee meetings, and other duties as assigned. The Associate Director of Development will be involved in all aspects of fundraising, including strategy, annual planning, implementation, reporting, acknowledgement, and cultivation as well as developing fundraising communications.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Foundation and Corporate Relations
1. Responsible for producing foundation and corporate solicitations requesting up to $50,000
2. Manage all foundation and corporation communications mailings
3. Update and manage the Grant Calendar
4. Manage Fall Affair solicitations to corporations and foundations
5. Increase foundation and corporate gifts by 5%

Individual Giving
1. Design and implement an annual fund campaign, including appeals, holiday mailing, benefits, and renewal/upgrade strategy
2. Increase annual giving by 15%
3. Manage direct mail appeals, mail house coordination, and mailing lists
4. Support the Director of Development in major gifts strategy
5. Manage a program of prospect identification, cultivation, solicitation and acknowledgement
6. Oversee manage all donor stewardship activities
7. Identify opportunities for individual giving and volunteer activities to overlap

Special Events
1. Plan and execute donor/prospect events and communications, special appeals, and member communications
2. Support, create, and implement cost-effective special events
3. Manage the Fall Affair Advisory Committee, production timelines, and activities
4. Develop corporate relations leading to sponsorships, both in-kind and cash, for events and services
5. Assist in maintaining accurate donor records, reporting, and analysis

Development Communications and Operations
1. Support the production and execution of all communications materials, including website copy, social media updates, e-blasts, and newsletters
2. Facilitate effective Development communications activities and liaise with the Director of Development, the Chief Executive Officer, and the Director of External Relations
3. Responsible for database integrity and reporting
4. Manage and supervise the gift-entry process, including acknowledgment letters
5. Liaise with the Finance Department to reconcile gift entry
6. Manage and improve donor tracking and fundraising systems

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Bachelors degree; Masters degree preferred
2. Minimum 4 years experience in individual giving, major gifts, and/or grant writing
3. Knowledge of key Development processes: cultivation, solicitation, grant writing, acknowledgment, stewardship, reporting and tracking
4. Excellent relationship building skills with various constituencies: partner agencies, the Board of Directors, donors, Foundation Officers, vendors
5. Able to effectively communicate the case for support of Lamp Community’s work as a leading provider in Los Angeles, and about homelessness, mental health, and harm reduction
6. Detail oriented with excellent time management, organizational, written, verbal, interpersonal, and computer skills
7. Able to learn quickly and work effectively with a wide range of constituencies and with minimal supervision
8. Current, valid California Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
9. Not-for-profit experience strongly preferred
10. Experience with donor software preferred
