The patent analyst will use their superior analyst skills to work on IP Analytics projects. In support of our customers’ requests, you may be involved in patent landscape studies, portfolio categorization, patent mapping, licensing and commercialization studies, evidence of use studies, or due diligence support.

Key Responsibilities of the Position Include:

  • Speaking to customers about their technology of interest and ultimate business objectives associated with studying the technology;
  • Scoping IP analytics projects to figure out what IP data must be collected in order to help prepare an estimate;
  • Collecting IP data and determining if it is relevant;
  • Categorizing by technology features, problems, solutions and effects, any relevant IP data;
  • Cleaning of IP data;
  • Reviewing correlative data such as business, finance, or news;
  • Using the cleaned, categorized IP data and potentially correlative data to write an informed report with quantitative analytics (charts, graphs, tables) and qualitative opinions about the story of this data;
  • Open ended discussions with customers after projects are delivered about how to provide additional value on same and/or future projects

Job Requirements

  • Work in: (1) Electrical Communications (EE), particularly 3G, 4G, LTE, wireless and experience navigating one or more electrical communications standards documentation, or (2) Computer Engineering (CE) covering hardware, software and business method technologies
  • Desire to work on IP analytics projects involving above tasks, particularly in the qualitative interpretation of data to tell a story about its meaning
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, as well as strong attention to detail
  • At least 2 years of experience in patent field
  • Experience in technical discipline
