Productive and Fun workday at Landscaping
Laborer (Former Employee), Chattanooga, TNDecember 12, 2014
A typical day at work was always fun. I enjoyed learning different things and I loved working hard because that is what I have been thought to do. The management was always in a strict manner but it allowed us to get our job done well. My co-workers were always willing to do their best and work hard. Other days, I would have to train workers the expectations – more... of what was expected. The hardest part of that job was long working hours on a hot day. Such as when I was assigned to roll out grass throughout the yard. The blazing sun was shining down on me, it was different than what I expected. However, I kept working for those 5-6 hours I was assigned to work. the most enjoyable part of the day was when it was all shady outside with wind blowing and I didn't have much work to get done that day. – less

Manual labor in all weather types, but flexible.
Landscape Laborer (Former Employee), Logan, UTOctober 21, 2014
Pros: flexible schedule, hands on work
Cons: long days, hot sun
My typical day included cleaning out trenches, assembling valves and piping, burying the lines, wiring up the timer, and running equipment. Sometimes we also installed the sod for the lawn. My boss was great and often had me work on my own while he finished up other projects. The hardest part of the job was the manual labor and being out in the sun – more... all day. The most enjoyable part of the job was being out of the house and playing in the dirt. – less

Pepper & CO
Pepper & Co. (Former Employee), Chesapeake, VASeptember 28, 2014
Working at Pepper & Co. Landscaping was a great experience. It was my first actual job that I didn't work with family, and actually did hard labor. Our schedule every week was the same, we went to the same properties. During this experience with this job, I learned how to use power mechanical tools, how to work with a team at a fast paste.

Pros: enjoying nature
Cons: healthcare. less time spent at home.
they were long work days some time from early morning to late at night. i learned how to respect the public. learned how different people liked the yards looking neat and presentable. it was a lonely job to do by yourself. it really made you think about things. The hardest part of the job was being gone from home and not being able to see my family. – more... The most enjoyable part of the job was working with the customers. – less

Pros: the more task i got more i was paid
Cons: only temporary and seasonal jobs offered
My typical day at Hamilton Landscaping & Construction was I went to my Supervisor and got a list of task that needed to be completed in a timely manor. Managing a productive Landscaping Business
C-27 Contractor (Self-employed) (Current Employee), Hemet, CAJanuary 14, 2014
Pros: meeting new people
Cons: extreme weather conditions
My day always starts with advertisement and talking to people from all around. I organize all my flyers and advertise on my spare time. I have learned a lot about landscaping. Landscaping has taught me the different ways and styles of people's preferences. Learning time -management, being prompt and organization is a huge benefit in this industry. I – more... work as a sole proprietor and eventually would like to hire a crew of employees when my business expandes. The hardest part of the job is working in extreme hot and cold temperatures. The most enjoyable part of my job is the finished product and the look of the customers face of satisfaction. Beautifying a customer's home that they come home to everyday is so satisfying to me. – less

specialty lawn car (Former Employee), Spokane, WADecember 19, 2013
Pros: could listen to music while working
Cons: short lunch breaks, no breaks in between days
a typical day would start at about 8 in the morning and we would have our set areas to mow. if needed we would have to mow other places depending on how soft the ground was for the riders to not mow it. we would normally end a day around 6, depending on how heavy the grass had grown or the weather. management was fairly decent. we didn't get the breaks – more... that should have been provided for working 10 hr days. co-workers were down to earth people, normally around the same age. we all got along and helped one another in getting a job done right. hardest time during the job would have to be mid summer when the temperatures are reaching the triple digits. water became my best friend. the most enjoyable time would be when all jobs are done and we are finished for the day. always a good feeling when a good days work comes to an end. – less

A typical day at work.
Joe's Lawn Care (Former Employee), Fort Wayne, INDecember 18, 2013
Pros: rewards
Cons: short breaks
Well a typical day at work having to wake up at 7:00 am and get all of the equipment ready to start the job and begin working at 8:00 am. We would have to go to different locations each time to do each job. Most of the time it is around the same general area that we are at. We had to cut grass, cut trees down and haul away, Clean gutters, shovel snow, – more... and many other things.
I learned that if you do not write the address down and you charge two different prices they will get upset. It was rather easy to manage being on time and doing the job at a fast pace and getting it done perfectly. My brothers were the co-workers. The hardest part of the job was to get on the roof and do the gutters. Now the most enjoyable job was making sure the customers were happy. – less
