COMPUTER ASSISTANT (PAY RANGE $12.54-$20.00)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs work of a computer assistant for the Services Division to include disk to tape backups, or processes for the Lodging Touch Service and Corporate Food Service programs. Provides technical guidance to the end users. Determines computerized solutions to user problems, as well as assisting in preparing technical reports, programming guides, special operating instructions and detailed software upgrades. Assists in designing internal program structure of files and records, codes, and tests document programs. Monitors the operation of assigned programs and responds to problems by diagnosing and correcting errors in logic and coding or hardware replacement. Occasionally required to transport equipment to other areas on base, and required to carry a beeper. Evaluates software and hardware for system use. Performs system programming functions. Conducts risk-analysis for all computer systems. Provides technical advice and guidance to management. Provides technical support for computer procurement. Serves as an computer assistant to various systems. Trains squadron personnel on hardware/software applications. Assists in managing two Information Technology Asset Management (ITAM) accounts. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Proficiency in the use of one or more programming languages is preferred. Must have experience that provided a basic knowledge of data processing functions and general management principles that enabled the applicant to understand the stages required to automate a work process. Experience may have been gained in work such as computer operator or assistant, computer sales representative, program analyst, or other positions that required the use or adaptation of computer programs and systems. Must be able to work an uncommon tour of duty, including weekends. Must be able to lift up to and including 50 pounds. Must have a valid driver’s license. position is a position of trust. Pre-employment physical required. National Agency Check with Inquires (NACI) required. Be able to satisfactorily complete the Information Assurance Training (A+ Network+ or equivalent.) Cisco certification a plus.
