About Legal Sea Foods
Everything at this seafood chain is above board. Legal Sea Foods operates a popular chain of more than 30 upscale casual-dining spots known for their fresh seafood. The restaurants offer a variety of fish, lobster, and shrimp dishes, along with chowder, soup, and sandwiches. Legal also offers carry-out, catering, and private dining services. The chain – more... operates in seven Eastern states, though most are in the Boston area. The family-owned business was started by George Berkowitz who opened the Legal Cash Market grocery store in 1950 in Cambridge, Massachusetts. He and his wife opened their first restaurant in 1968.
Legal Sea Foods operates a "state-of-the-art" processing plant that has allowed it to expand into online seafood sales through its Mail Order and Gourmet Gift division.
While most of the company's restaurants are full-service locations in urban areas, it also has a small number of eateries located in airports. Its chain also includes a cafe concept called Legal C Bar at Boston's Logan International Airport.
