not a good work environment
housekeeping (Former Employee), spokaneApril 27, 2013
Fairwinds s not a good environment to work in. Bullying tactics used on employees. Compensation is minimum wage and usually no raise or not very much. Management seems confused about what to do. Anything that goes wrong is your fault never the management. They will work you until you drop! Turnover is high.

Fun to work with and assist the elderly residents.
Maintenance (Former Employee), Rio Rancho, NMJuly 27, 2012
Pros: free meals and medical coverage.
Obtain previous days work orders, resolve problems that residents have in their apartments, refurbish vacant apartments, maintain fish pond, and repair any broken equipment. The staff had a great caring attitude toward the residents.

Toxic work climate & culture
Waiter (Former Employee), BCNovember 14, 2012
This is an organization that fails in so many aspects. The organization does not follow through with the promised employee benefits when promised if at all. The staff turnover rate at one of there Canadian locations is extremely high. HQ in Seattle doesn't seem to much care, otherwise a remedy would have by now been forth-coming. This is not an organization – more... that is interested in fostering an approach to management which is 'participatory'. Managerial practices at this one particular location are dictatorial and disempowering. It's an oppressive environment in which one is exposed to a climate of fear and mistrust; there are lots of secrets; covert manipulation; feedback is not welcome; employees are treated in a patronizing and condescending manner; promises are forgotten; meals, while free, are of poor quality. Putting it simply: it's exploitative! You'll be lucky if you last longer than six months. Good luck!! – less
