Customer Service (Former Employee), Buckeye, AZ – May 24, 2012
Pros: free water and snacks
Cons: pay day on a monday.
My typical day at work, I waive and smile at cars as they pass by, that I can pull people in with just a smile and a waive, usually people are in such a hurry they do not stop and look around much less look anyone in the eye, but I learned to turn my body towards them and the waive with my smile, they all gave in to return a smile and a waive. Knowing – more... it is seasonal and knowing my waive will be missed by all those who drove by my corner, I know in some small way I made their day and they made mine. – less
Tax Preparation (Former Employee), Lakewood, CO – May 18, 2012
I'm not sure what the Tax Preparer's at H & R Block get paid but I believe it is a lot more than Liberty pays. $9 hour plus a VERY small bonus at the end of the season just didn't cut it. Not when the client is paying hundreds of dollars for me to spend 15 minutes preparing their return.
Training was pretty much non-existent. The training was actually – more... unpaid and framed as a "class" where they would then decide who they wanted to hire.
I learned some details that I did not know but ultimately Turbo Tax teaches you the same thing as does the Liberty Tax software. – less
Great part time work, but not for a full time position.
Marketing and Waver (Former Employee), Fredericksburg, VA – May 16, 2012
Pros: stayed active and had lots of fun.
Cons: i developed a hernia in my abdomen.
I had a great time. At the end some employees did a really unethical step by decreasing their hours and I had to work 6 days a week. They only stayed on for the bonus. They never even considered someone would have to work their hours. I will leave it to the college students from now on.
Intern (Current Employee), Parma Heights, Ohio – May 14, 2012
Pros: ability to be creative in assisting with marketing
Cons: temporary position - lack of hours
The owner was very willing to offer any assistance necessary to ensure my experience was a success. While he was not required to compensate me, as I was an intern, he chose to do so as a result of my interest and eagerness to learn as well as my ability to absorb information quickly. In a typical day, I would arrive for my night shift and begin processing – more... tax returns almost immediately. Breaks were not "scheduled" but the employees were encouraged to take a break in between appointments, if possible, to prevent an information overload. I thought this was great because I feel it prevented unnecessary mistakes and allowed us to begin a return with a fresh start. The hardest part of the job was the lack of hours. However, the most enjoyable part for me was the fact the owner was very intrigued with my marketing ideas and implemented them. – less
Tax Preparer (Former Employee), London, ON – May 13, 2012
Completing clients taxes was enjoyable and easy. Answering phone calls, making appointments, and interacting with clients to prepare their taxes were my main tasks. We use a compuer program to complete the taxes accuratly and efficiently. Their are only 4 employees including the owner. He was most certainly my favourite boss because he was flexible, – more... understanding and very helpful. Overall I loved this job! – less
I experienced a very fun employment timeline while at Liberty Tax Service in Brantford, Ontario
Mascot (Former Employee), Brantford, ON – May 8, 2012
Pros: making people smile, promoting the company in a fun way
I would say to anyone who didn't want to become a mascot to try it, because it is so much fun. When I worked at Liberty Tax Service, a typical day was to show up for my shift, make a pot of coffee, and then go outside and promote the company by dancing waving signs and talking to people on the street. I had one or two co-workers because the company's – more... store was not that big, but they were fun to work with. The most enjoyable part of this job was promoting the company in a fun way, and listening to people 'honk' as they drove by. The hardest part of the job that I experienced was trying to see straight out of the costume. – less
Marketing Representative (Former Employee), Lancaster, PA – May 8, 2012
Freedom to be yourself and attract costumers. I learned to be more open to people. My coworkers were friendly but I had to do their job alot because they played around on the job. The hardest part of the job was working in the cold and wind. I liked this job though because everyone was friendly and helped one another.
Waiver (Former Employee), Royal Oak, MI – May 5, 2012
Pros: fun, good mangagement, long breaks
Cons: weather
Start the day by dressing up in the liberty tax costume and then putting the flags up. After I prepare coffee for the clients. Then I begin my job by waving and dancing to attract potential clients. The weather wasn't so nice, but all the feedback I got for my job was great. My boss complemented me all the time. It was a great work experience
tax preparer (Former Employee), Ephrata, PA – May 3, 2012
I enjoyed working here. It was fun and learned alot from working here, the bosses were great to work for and very friendly to everyone. We all got along very well with everyone,
Marketing (Former Employee), Plano, TX – May 1, 2012
Great place to work, flexible hours, great pay. The hardest part is being in a new area and not everyone is acceptable to you. You even get to work with kids so much fun.
Income tax adviser (Former Employee), Fayetteville, GA – May 1, 2012
I enjoyed my time there. My boss was a first time owner that had no idea how to staff. My typical day at work was sitting at my desk playing with the tax systems, but spent most of the time marketing to random people that we do taxes. The best part of the day was when we had our daily meetings because we actually enjoyed each others company.
IRS Certified Tax Preparer (Former Employee), Bountiful, UT – April 26, 2012
Pros: never too busy pay was fair.
Cons: i didn't work enough hours, there was a lack of business, my certification required higher pay.
The typical day was never too busy and even when it got busy we were encouraged to get to know the client's and make them feel as comfortable as they could be.
Sign Waiver (Former Employee), Pomona, CA – April 25, 2012
Pros: easy money just holding a sign
Cons: boring
Changed into our work costume as the statue of liberty and went to the corner to wave sign. The management never asked if we needed anything or was concerned with us. Just came and went to do the job.
