Ladle it on, LiDestri Foods says. The company manufactures Italian pasta sauces under the Francesco Rinaldi label. These include tomato sauces (such as traditional marinara, meat-flavored, and chunky garden-style), Alfredo sauces (traditional, vodka, and sundried tomato), and ToBe Healthy sauces with Omega 3's (tomato and basil, spicy marinara, and garden style). The company also produces olive oils and cooking wines. Products under the Francesco Rinaldi name are sold in US retail food outlets and online. LiDestri Foods also offers its customers private-label manufacturing services. The company, which is today owned and operated by the LiDestri family, has ties to the Ragu packing company founded in 1937.
Founded as Cantisano Foods by Ralph Cantisano and John LiDestri in 1970 when Cantisano sold Ragu, the LiDestri family took over ownership and management in 1998. The company officially changed its name to LiDestri Foods in 2002.
Headquartered in the Rochester suburb of Fairport, New York, LiDestri Foods operates manufacturing facilities in California and New Jersey.
As part of its operations as one of the largest co-packers of pasta sauce in America, the food company produces more than 2 million jars of sauces and dips daily. It's a contract manufacturer for Frito-Lay, Barilla, Newman's Own, and Nestle, the largest food company in the world, as well as for supermarket chain stores Wegman's, Safeway, and Albertsons.
For growth, LiDestri Foods is looking at libations to fuel its bottom line. In 2010 the company launched a spirits business and moved into Eastman Kodak's former film-finishing building to make spaghetti sauce on one side and alcoholic beverages on the other. In mid-2012 the food company was granted a trademark for LiDestri Spirits. One of its agreements involves bottling Hard Rock vodka, distributed by Southern Wine & Spirits. – less
