As a member of the Columbia Utilities Residential Sales team, the Outside Sales Representative will provide operational support to the sales process for various Direct and In-Direct Sales Channels. This includes, but is not limited to, door to door, multi-family, retail partnerships and telemarketing. The Outside Sales Representative position is considered an entry level sales & marketing position meaning thorough training is provided. It has been a wonderful start for many of our executives’ right out of college! We have a strict promote only from within policy which provides account managers with ample room for advancement and experience in marketing, advertising, and sales.
As an Outside Sales Representative, you must be a highly motivated and driven self-starter with a strong desire to earn and to consistently exceed your goals. You must also have a positive and engaging personality as well as the tenacious attitude necessary to go for the close during every sales call. It is also vital for your role as an Outside Sales Representative that you are exceptionally organized and able to manage your time effectively so as to maximize your sales opportunities.
Specific qualifications for the Outside Sales Representative position include:
- High School degree - Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
- Basic computer knowledge, including Microsoft Outlook
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Previous sales experience a plus
- General construction knowledge a plus
