Associate Producer, New York, NY - April 23, 2013
This was an exciting experience to work in the world of national unscripted TV production. I took a pay cut to take this job but was able to live in and experience both New York City and Chicago. Though, I will admit, the pay made for a unique living experience. Thankfully I saved up. Working with Emmy award winners in a creative setting was exciting and unique. The chance to develop shows was something that interested me and the tight knit atmosphere of the cast and crew made for an enjoyable work day, even when some work days lasted 12 hours. My least favorite part of the job was the inability to move up quickly. My first duties as a researcher were a fun exercise and my later duties as an Associate Producer were enjoyable but not challenging. It seemed that there would be positions as an executive producer opening with the company when we finished our show in Chicago, but such was not the case. Without any work, I sadly left the company in pursuit of a more stable, challenging career. I still have great friends who continue to work with the company on occasion.
