Electronics Bench Technician (Former Employee) –  Killeen, TXOctober 29, 2015
Small workforce that worked well together. Management really seemed to care if their people were happy and took care of them.

Bad experience overall
Mechanic (Former Employee) –  Fort Campbell, KYSeptember 30, 2015
My personal opinion is that LM got into uncharted waters and got in over their head when they bid on the US Army RASM-C Contract. From all that's been said and written, they are figuratively losing their shorts, and that of course is being felt most at the hourly employee level.

Huge turnover of long term employees at the site. 3 months after LM took over the contract was the first layoff. 100 or so people that time. Much of the experienced workforce moved on. Another mass layoff has started about 4 months prior to contract award. Other smaller ones have happened along the way. There has been absolutely no sense of job security since they took over this contract.

The salaried group has grown to an enormous number of egotistical know-it-alls. Of all the contracts I have worked, I have never seen the turnover of managers like I have seen here. Some were removed, but many more quit. The ones who replace them from the site are pretty much pre-determined by the good-old-boy network.

When LM was awarded the contract, they brought 2 subcontractor's with them. DCR and Akima. The majority of the employees are under the 2 subs. The biggest heartburn they have had was lack of any benefits. They do get a health and welfare adjustment, but many employees say that is not enough to get adequate coverage for themselves and their families.
Pros
Some of the best benefits I have ever had with a company
Cons
Lack of job security. Company is so large that lower level employees don't matter much.

Great place to start a career
Senior Design Engineer, Reentry Division (Former Employee) –  King of Prussia, PASeptember 19, 2015
Retired from Lockheed after 30 years. Overall a good place to work most of my career but in the last few years a changing environment has created less of an opportunities for older workers. They are cutting costs and hiring younger less experienced workers to replace the older workers.
Pros
Work at home opportunities.
Cons
No pension, subpar healthcare benifits.

Field Service Technician
Field Service Technician (Former Employee) –  Fort Worth, TXMarch 2, 2014
The work environment was excellent, the pay was great. Management activities by the upper management has contributed to layoffs and loss of production. Unfortunately I moved from having a job to 6 months later being layed-off. As I search online, this is not the first time that this has occurred, Former workers have moved from Marietta, Ga. to Texas only to result in being laid off.
Pros
pay rate, work enviroment, great co-workers
Cons
always a risk of lay off

Air Traffic Control Specialist AFSS (Former Employee) –  Prescott Valley, AZSeptember 2, 2013
New enterprise for Lockheed-Margin. During this period Lockheed-Martin was developing a new enterprise, one in which they had no expertise. The development of new computers and proceeedures was a necessity. Adjustment during this period was required by both management and specialists. By 2008, internal facility training was in full swing and the necessity of keep FAA veterans was no longer requirement.
Pros
new consept computers
Cons
increased responsibility for new spedialists compensated by lower pay and benifits.

You are either good or not.
Network Engineer (Former Employee) –  Sunnyvale, CANovember 1, 2012
Worked with a bunch of very smart, energetic people. I learned a lot of technical matter both in depth and in a broader spectrum. A place where you bring it all together. You can find yourself given a task with little or no guidance that you are expected to accomplish within a given time line. You just get the task done.

The hardest part of the job was not the job. It was the commute.

Being a government contractor it is a very security aware place. Everything you do on a daily basis is security based. Everything you did had security and confidentiality ingrained into you daily work habits.

You learn to get along with a dynamic bunch of people. A lot of down to earth smart people who really know their stuff.

Problems of different difficulty and complexity that make you think out of the box and forced you to either learn and grow or sink.

A challenging place. A place where you grew.
Pros
gave me opportunities for advancement, to learn a lot and for education.
Cons
the commute.

This was a outstanding working experience in many levels. Very inclusive atmosphere, and all managers I worked under showed a genuine concern for my career path and advancement. While at times the day's lenght varied (between 8 to 10 hrs), it was ALWAYS time well spent.
