Louis Dreyfus Citrus ("LD Citrus" or the "Company") is one of the world´s four largest orange juice processors, which together account for over 60% of total production. The Company orange juice production represents approximately 11% of worldwide production.
The Company, in common with its three main competitors, has its – more... operations center in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Due to excellent soil and climatic conditions, this is by far the lowest cost-producing region in the world, responsible for providing over 80% of the export market in orange juice concentrate.
LD Citrus has two processing plants in São Paulo and two in Florida, United States (USA). Florida is the world's second largest orange producer, accounting for 16% of total production. In addition to the processing plants, the Company owns orange groves in São Paulo.
Orange juice processing is a growing industry. World production has increased about 50% in the last 12 years, and forecasts are that it will continue to thrive in line with demand, which has been growing at annual rates averaging 2-4%.
LD Citrus markets its orange juice production in over 65 countries to bottlers and retail distributors, with its main markets being North America and Europe, which accounts for approximately 80% of total sales. The Company has sales offices in São Paulo (Brazil), Paris (France), Rotterdam (Netherlands), Wilton, Connecticut Indiantowr, Florida and Winter Garden, Florida (USA). The Company also operates a bulk terminal for receiving and distributing orange juice in Ghent (Belgium).
