I needed to change.
Stocker/Customer Service (Former Employee) –  Monaca, PAApril 29, 2017
Lowes recently changed managers. They let certain things go for instance. Everyone who works there full time should know how to run power equipment. (Fork lift or Narrow aisle exterder) but they don't press it and the people who do have to do more than their fare share of work. It promotes bad attitudes.
Pros
I had an excellent WORKING manager.
Cons
If your department does not have a WORKING manager, forget it.

Cashier (Former Employee) –  Spokane, WAApril 29, 2017
Got paid vacation time and worked around my school schedule. The managers were also very nice as well. Wouldn't make the best career but if you're just needing working for a little while it was nice.

A good place to start that will include advancement options. They offer training for any thing you want to know. Also have very knowledgeable and friendly employees that will help each other

Sales Associate (Current Employee) –  San Antonio, TXApril 29, 2017
Typically your day consists of front facing and cleaning your area. It does get busy from 2-5 on week days. You will learn a lot on the job so do not be overcomes with the many questions asked by customers. The store manager seems to just sit in his room and have his ear ringed off by upper management and does nothing else. ASMs within the store tend to follow each other around. Employees are very nice and friendly so they provide a good balanced working environment. When it does get busy and you have people waiting for you do not stress out, take your time because you can only work so fast. The most enjoyable part of the job is when you get a customer who actually listens to you and asks questions because that is the only way you can help them. The hardest part of the job is dealing with customers who want the best product but also want it at the cheapest price which is unreasonable.
Pros
Hour Lunches, Lenient, Flexible Schedule, Great CoWorkers
Cons
Some Managers do nothing, ASMs follow each other like ducklings.

Not so positive
Customer Service, crew (Former Employee) –  Newhall San Jose CaApril 28, 2017
The location that I worked for was very unwelcoming. Though the videos seemed like the environment would be very positive and uplifting, the actual store was far from that. I wish I did more research before investing my time into it.
Pros
Can get forklift certified
Cons
Bad environment, wouldn't recommend for young individuals.

I worked my way up into company. When pay was too high they got rid of you to hire someone at cheaper pay. Each store is different, mine was very clicky, if they didnt fit in the group your out.

A great company
Building Materials Associate (Former Employee) –  New Iberia, LAApril 28, 2017
Anything positive that Home Depot achieves is something that Lowes has put in action, years ahead of them. There are numerous ways to advance, and there is real money to be had by achieving results as a store; not the pocket change that Home Depot hands out for store performance. The company tends to celebrate that NASCAR nonsense a little too much, and your experience can be degraded, depending on the quality of your coworkers' performance. If you are fortunate enough to have great coworkers, your store will destroy the competition.
Pros
The company treats you like a human
Cons
Good workers can vary from store to store

Customer Service Associate (Former Employee) –  Concord, NCApril 28, 2017
Working at Lowes as a customer serve associate, I absolutely loved my job. It was a perfect place to work for me because I enjoy helping people and effective problem solving. Working in this department has definitely increased my patience and has given me a confidence in finding solutions that are beneficial to both parties of every issue.
Pros
Constant affirmations

Sr Manager, BI (Current Employee) –  Mooresville, NCApril 28, 2017
Unstable and dishonest company that would rather have you in India. Hates American jobs. I was Sr leadership here for years and could take it anymore. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

CSA (Current Employee) –  Plymouth, MNApril 28, 2017
Extremely short staffed most of the time and if you know what you are doing the management will take complete advantage of that fact. After the restructure the whole culture changed and now everyone seems very stressed and on edge.
Pros
lots of events with food
Cons
Short staffed and lack of response for help

Shipping Clerk (Former Employee) –  Pittston, PAApril 28, 2017
Loading trucks with products that range from packs of light bulbs to air conditioners, there was a cafeteria that cooked fresh food for employees to purchase.
Pros
Work Fri-Sun and Off Mon-Thurs.
Cons
Summer time trucks get up to 120 degrees, winter time very cold.

Nothing Special (Current Employee) –  Southern USApril 28, 2017
Unfortunately there appears to be no security for highly skilled and properly compensated professionals in Lowe's anymore. Everyday is another day waiting for the axe to drop. This is very disappointing after dedicating 15 years to making them successful and sacrificing countless days and nights with my family. There is absolutely no appreciation for any of it here.
Pros
Competitive benifits and pay.
Cons
Constant fear of losing your job and not finding a new one.

Very stressful work environment; management attempts to help the best they can, but there is never enough employees working to attend to the high volume of customers.

Assistant Manager (Former Employee) –  PennsylvaniaApril 28, 2017
Company stagnated. Continued cuts in middle management in stores lose team buy in. Moral is at its lowest and people are jumping ship. Maybe they should cut CEO bonus when they need to trim the fat.
Pros
Discount
Cons
Leadership
