Nice perks, incredible brand, stagnant and deteriorating company
Desktop Support Engineer (Former Employee) – San Francisco Bay Area, CA – March 13, 2015
Pros: While there Lucasfilm had nice perks like free movies and parties now and again. Working for the Star Wars company is always a good conversation starter. People all across the company are smart, kind, motivated and generally very good at what they do. They do their best to provide good health care and benefits with a work life balance in the mix. This is ending in 2013, after which I no longer work there.
Cons: No advancement possible due to small company structure and desire of everyone to stay as long as possible. Management can be a very mixed bag since they tended to designate people internally based on relationships rather than training or disposition. I'm sure you've read numerous scathing reviews of the senior management, and that toxic culture permeated all the way down. Things may be different now.

This was a fun and creative place to be. There was always something interesting to see and work on. Many times you were left with little guidance on what to do so a lot of freedom here. Sadly when I was there they were going through a management change and non-art personnel was making many of the creative choices and that didn't always lead to the best decisions.
