Technical Applications Specialist II (Current Employee) –  Austin, TXJune 26, 2017
I love the Luminex products (instruments and beads). I love the xMAP technology. The company should use the talent it already has instead of hiring from the outside and dropping the learning curve. Many Luminex employees can be promoted to higher positions but have been turned down because they lack one or two qualifications. The ideal step to take is to provide training to current employees because they know the product, and hire new employees in the lower level positions so they can learn the products. The key is to keep the learning curve up and the company staffed with employees who love and appreciate the Luminex brand and products.
Pros
Great pay
Cons
No room to grow within the company

Excellent company that cares about employees
Sr. Director of Operations (Former Employee) –  Madison, WIJune 19, 2017
Luminex Corporation acquired the company I was hired to work for, which I understood before I started there. Luminex came in and did an excellent job of understanding the site and really took care of the employees with an outstanding benefit package and needed investments to continue the growth of the site, including a new facility. I can't say enough about how open and caring they were for the employees.
Pros
Excellent benefits and longevity of employees
Cons
Can't think of one.

Scientist I (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXMay 11, 2017
Working at Luminex was fast-paced, friendly, and fun. The people and management there were genuinely interested in humancare and the job was demanding but well compensated. We had lots of company parties and free food. There is a great social atmosphere here. I learned alot about how industry works. This is a great starter job in the biotech industry!
Pros
Tons of swag, parties, and pay. People here are awesome
Cons
Hard to stay on more than 1 yr. Turnover is high!

Not a pleasant work environment
Quality Assurance Technician (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXFebruary 1, 2017
I witnessed upper management speaking of sexually harassing another employee and reported it and it went nowhere. Poor management. If you don't work the 'required' overtime you are history. This is after given permission to not work the 'required' overtime. Morale is horrible. People feel and are trapped in a dead end job. Think before working here it is not as rosy as it may seem.
Pros
None that can think of
Cons
Management is poor at best

Shipping and Receiving Associate (Former Employee) –  Madison, WIFebruary 17, 2016
The management at the Madison branch is an absolute joke. Procedures are poorly written and only followed when convenient. Poor moral and poor work environment. It's like being in a poor high school. If you want order and a feel good work place look elsewhere.
Pros
Leaving
Cons
Management, compensation, unorganized, terrible moral, and management again.

MATERIALS ASSOCIATE (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXJanuary 22, 2016
The management, only is reactive than proactive. There are no procedures, but exceptions. The environment of this company leaves you paranoid, due to constant 'throwing people under the bus".
Pros
Lots of down time. Easy work. No micro management.
Cons
Bad management. No proper procedures. Non-compliant. SOPs do not back up any work you do.

Summer Intern (Former Employee) –  Austin, TXJuly 5, 2013
As an intern, my typical workday was filled with experiments and writing SOPs. However, on the days when they were no experiments to run it was 8 hours of boredom.

What I really disliked about the company is the job security. Typically if one worked well as an intern, the company more than likely hires them at the end of internship. All I got was, 'We'll call you, don't call us" spiel.

Receptionist (Current Employee) –  Austin, TXJune 26, 2012
Typically 8-5. Great place to grow -- it's a rapidly growing bio-tech firm. Excellent benefits for fulltime employees. Anyone hired must land on their feet and RUN upon being hired. Having ORACLE knowledge is a huge plus.
Pros
growing company that likes to hire from within.
Cons
no covered parking, campus is separated into several one-story buildings, communication is somewhat limited among all of them, these glitches are being corrected.
