Busy yet rewarding place to work
Registered Nurse (Current Employee), Fort Wayne, INAugust 13, 2014
Pros: co-workers and patients
Cons: short-staffed
A typical day at work involves performing role as charge nurse and direct patient care. I assist co-workers and have 5 to 7 patients to care for myself. I enjoy my co-workers and my patients. The hardest part of this job is time-management on nights when I am short-staffed. The most enjoyable part of this job are my patients and the care I am able to – more... give them. – less

Excellent Hospital
Staff Nurse et al (Former Employee), Fort Wayne, INAugust 11, 2014
Pros: lots of different experiences
Cons: per usual, a few meanies
This is the first place I worked after graduating from nursing school. I started out in med/surg, went to the ICU, then off to the OR, then I spend the rest of the 10 years I worked there in the ER. Loved every minute of it. Critical care was in my nature. All through working full-time as a single mom, I earned two Master's Degrees. It was a good hospital, – more... and again, since it was run by a religious organization, God's presence was felt. – less

Pros: flexible schedule

I really enjoyed working Float Pool at Lutheran Hospital. My co-workers were all very team oriented and helpful. It was a sad day when the Float Pool was eliminated.

Out-patient Physical therapist (Former Employee), Cleveland, OHMay 25, 2014
Pros: size of hospital is reasonable, small enough to get to know people yet large enough to provide services.
Cons: productivity standards
Hours at work became too long after we went to electronic medical records with unreasonable productivity standards. Management offered no support to therapists. The good part was the co-workers, all were experienced, competent and willing to help

Fun and Challenging Job
Medical Lab Technician (Former Employee), Fort Wayne, INMarch 9, 2014
Pros: fun and challenging work environment
Cons: low pay, little oppertunity for advancement, chronic understaffing
I was primarily assigned to the Chemistry department. Each day I would run maintenance and QC on instruments, maintain acceptable turnaround times for sample processing and troubleshoot problems. I enjoyed working with the vast majority of my co-workers and had good relations with those I came into contact with. Management varied, and while they knew – more... their jobs, it was difficult to get any changes done. – less

the hospital was very enjoyable with plenty to do
File Clerk / Data Entry (Former Employee), Cleveland, OHFebruary 11, 2014
Pros: free lunch, longer breaks, meeting new patients
Cons: being in certain parts of the hospital would cause you to pick up someones sickness.
I had no typical day at work because every day i was in a different section of the hospital helping others with their work. I did not particularly learn anything i did not know already. no real management but i suppose the doctor's and nurse's I listened to were very helpful. co-workers attitude varied from were they worked in the hospital. their were – more... no hard parts of the job. the most enjoy able part was lunch because it was different everyday. – less
