M-K Engineering, Inc. is a very successful consulting engineering firm with over 15 years of design experience in mechanical (HVAC), plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems for buildings in the greater New Orleans area. We have experience in design and construction management of small and large projects of healthcare, institutional, commercial, detention, industrial, and residential for the government and private clients.

We are seeking qualified AutoCAD Designers, Mechanical Engineers and Electrical Engineers. This is a full-time position, but could be part-time depending on the candidate. We are looking for someone who will be dependable and loyal to the firm. Salary is commensurate with experience.

MECHANICAL / ELECTRICAL ENGINEER:
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical and/or electrical design calculations
  • Perform site visits and attend meetings with the project architects, construction managers, and developers
  • Create, review and modify technical specifications for the project
  • Work with AutoCAD software to create, modify, and release drawings under the supervision of the engineer.
  • Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance to the standards of the firm.
  • Required to perform other duties as directed.

Education and Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelors degree in mechanical, electrical or related engineering discipline
  • 1 year of mechanical or electrical engineering experience is preferred
  • Knowledge of various codes and regulations is a plus (i.e. ASHRAE, National Electrical Code, NFPA, International Building Code, Mechanical Code, etc.)
  • Must know how to use AutoCAD and MS Office applications

General Requirements

  • Ability to work quickly to complete projects within the specified deadlines.
  • Must be able to learn quickly, which may lead to opportunities to perform design for some of the projects.
  • Good communication skills.
  • IT knowledge is a plus.
  • Must be eligible to work within the United States.

AUTOCAD DESIGNER:
Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with AutoCAD software to create, modify, and release drawings under the supervision of the engineer.
  • Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance to the standards of the firm.
  • May be responsible for some design element.
  • Required to perform other duties as directed.

Education and Experience

  • Certification from an accredited CAD Program or at least 1 year of direct experience with AutoCAD 2008 or later.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD basics such as lines, splines, blocks, dynamic blocks, xrefs, plot styles, layers/layer states, viewports, text styles, leaders, dimensions, tables, annotative objects, etc.
  • Must know how to print drawings from AutoCAD onto larger format plotters (HP DesignJet)
  • Experience with drafting for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or fire protection systems is a huge plus.
