I worked on a mining project in cost control. I supervised several purchase orders. My duties were to review invoices, purchase orders and a material receiving report, approving for payment if three-way match existed documenting cost codes and dollar amounts.Reconciled discrepancies with vendors, various internal departments and cost control.
I gained valuable experience in cost control methods and creating excel templates. Management was very hands off which was both a plus and negative. Co-workers were for the most part enjoyable to work with.
Hardest part of the job was getting up to speed on procedures as there was no real training and working with vendors in another country. Once procedures were locked down, the job become very enjoyable and rewarding.
