MEDIKO is a rapidly growing company that provides comprehensive health care services area to correctional facilities. We are currently seeking a Full Time Registered Nurse to join our team in Farmville Virginia.
The candidate selected will schedule, lead and coordinate the shift's activities of facility nursing and support staff in a correctional facility nursing unit. Other responsibilities will include, but are not limited to ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local regulations and guidelines, MEDIKO PC and facility policies and accepted nursing protocols and procedures; coordinate the services with other patient care units/areas and provide nursing services and patient care as appropriate.
Qualified Candidate must possess the ability to service customer needs by relationship building, problem solving and proactive identification of opportunities to improve service. Must be able to assess customer needs and facilitate workable solutions.
- Bachelors Degree Required
- At least five years of experience in a health care setting in a managerial role required
- General medical knowledge of running clinics required
- Correctional health care service experience required
Supervises professional and paraprofessional nursing staff in the orderly administration of inmate care. Prepares, monitors and coordinates the daily patient care activities of the unit to ensure all physician orders are implemented and all patient encounters are documented.
Maintains effective communication with nursing staff and other departments. Develops an interdepartmental communication system with other treatment teams for continuity of service delivery. Oversees and provides direct nursing care and consultation to patients as required.
Responsible for the monitoring, requisition, and record keeping of medication and clinic supplies. Supervises and participates in the administration of prescribed medication and treatment to inmates. Oversees quality assurance and infection control activities and compliance to operational standards.
Plans and directs orientation and ensures staff participation in health services training program. Participates in program development and implementation of operating policy and procedure.
Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
