Desktop Support Technician needed for a funded Government Contract which may require 50% travel to military bases in the surrounding locations of North Carolina: Camp Lejune, Cherry Point, and New River. South Carolina locations: Parris Island, and Marine Corps Air Station: Beaufort
Contract Employment: This is considered a Temporary position. The duration of the project is set for approximately six months, with the possibility of extension.
Approximate Start Date: Mid-to late January 2014
Under general supervision the Desktop Support Technician will configure, assemble and install microcomputers, workstations and/or peripheral equipment. Performs first line support for service interruptions such as printer routings, power outages, wiring problems, and malfunctioning servers. Escalates unresolved problems to expedite resolution. Maintains disaster recovery procedures for LAN and related equipment/software. Upgrades, modifies and replaces hardware, software and network components. Performs system backup and recovery activities. Monitors system performance, gathers data, and prepares management reports. Audits hardware/software inventory to ensure their integrity as well as licensing compliance. May provide user orientation on hardware, or software or network operations. Keeps abreast of emerging operational support technologies and industry trends. Travel to local surrounding areas will be required.
1-2 years of combined training and experience with computers, printers, general software and hardware installations and troubleshooting. Face to face customer support is required.
Physical demands: Ability to travel to assigned work locations, including boarding flights and driving a rental vehicle. Must be able to update, install, or replace CPU’s in hard to reach areas as needed. A laptop may be assigned to keep track of work performed. Additional equipment may be issued as needed.

Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen
Working Hours: TBD, it will most likely be a regular 8 hour shift, Monday-Friday.
Travel: Will be required. All travel related costs will be covered.
Compensation: Hourly, Non-Exempt
Special Requirements: All candidates are required to pass a drug screening, criminal history check, and credit check PRIOR TO BEGINNING WORK.
Must hold an ACTIVE Secret Clearance
