GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
Under general supervision of the Chief Information Officer performs professional work assisting in the operation and support of computer systems, servers, virtual server farms, Exchange Mail services and network equipment to include help desk support for all MNX Offices. Work involves helpdesk support, assembling, installing, and troubleshooting computers, ancillary equipment and software, and assisting MNX employees in the effective use of equipment and selected software.
Employee must exercise independent judgment and attention to detail in all phases of work. Employee must also exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with MNX employees and the vendor community.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Shares responsibility for Microsoft server and systems monitoring, administration, backup and helpdesk support for 210+ employees world-wide. Located in Columbus, Ohio this position supports operations in Atlanta, Columbus, New York, Los Angeles, Ontario, CA, London, Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and Australia.
The individual must be able to work independently in responding to employee service request tickets dealing with Microsoft Office, Windows XP, Windows7, Windows authentication, our core proprietary applications and be able to resolve issues by phone, email or remotely using desktop sharing software.
Monitors and responds to network issues related to circuit outages, VMware, Interactive Intelligence Phone System Administration, Veritas tape backup, Exchange Mail 2010, Rightfax, File and Print, MS SQL, proprietary software for company operations, Kaspersky anti-virus, office automation equipment and related software.
Monitors servers and PCs to ensure they receive operating system and anti-virus updates; will be responsible for Windows Server Update Services.
Assembles, installs, troubleshoots computers, printers, tape drives and other equipment; replaces defective parts; repairs and cleans equipment and components; performs preventive maintenance when possible and images new PCs using Altiris and Ghost.
Must be able to quickly assess a helpdesk issue, resolve it and/or provide management with well-conceived short- and long-term action for restoration of service(s) required.
Performs other related work as required.
Primary work shift is 4 pm – 12:00 am Monday-Friday with flexibility to adjust for projects and deployments. Some travel will be involved; a passport is required within the first 120 days of employment.
Must have the availability outside of normal hours and on weekends/holidays to share after hour support calls. After hour responses are infrequent, but have to be supported to sustain company operations.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
An Associates degree or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computers, information technology management or a related field.
Certification as Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator or any combination of Microsoft Certified IT Professional Certifications or be very close to finishing the certification.
A minimum of four years’ experience with PC's and networking in a Windows 2008 server environment plus extensive experience in supporting Windows desktops. A general understanding of and some working knowledge of routers, switches and firewalls is required.

Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, plotters, printers, copiers, facsimiles, etc. Must be able to lift and install a 50 pound computer and exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 pounds of force frequently or constantly to move objects. The individual must to be able to walk, sit, stand, touch, feel and reach. Physical demand requirements are for those for Moderately Active Work.

Motor Coordination: Requires the ability coordinate hands and eyes rapidly and accurately in using mapping and office equipment.
Manual Dexterity: Requires the ability to handle a variety of items such as office equipment, control knobs, switches, etc. Must have minimal levels of eye/hand/foot coordination.
Color Discrimination: Requires the ability to differentiate between colors and shades of color to distinguish coding of network and electrical wiring.
Interpersonal Temperament: Requires the ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress and when confronted with persons acting under stress.
Physical Communication: Requires the ability to talk and hear: (Talking: expressing or exchanging ideas by means of spoken words. Hearing: perceiving nature of sounds by ear.) Must be able to communicate via a telephone.
