Seasonal Archaeology Crewmember, Mackinac City, MI - September 4, 2013
As the archaeologist I work within the public eye so we get visitors come up and ask us questions about who we are and what we are doing. Typical work day for the archaeologists last from 8:30am - 5pm (clean up at 4:45pm). If it rains then we clean up and finish the day off in our lab cleaning artifacts. My coworkers are fun to be around and are easy to talk to. The most difficult part of the job is working in various weather conditions such as the cold, rain, high humidity, scorching heat. The most enjoyable part of the job is when we find interesting artifacts such as large fragments of glass and ceramics, buttons, recreational items, domestic items, and cooking items.
