Namasco has put the pedal to its metals. The company, a subsidiary of German distributor Klöckner & Co, distributes metals throughout the US. Namasco distributes general steel line products that include bar, grating and flooring, pipe, plate, and structural tube. The flat rolled division distributes aluminum and a variety of steel products, available coated, cold- and hot-rolled, prepainted and preplated. Namasco also provides processing services like drilling, punching, plasma tee splitting, and plate rolling. Klöckner & Co acquired Macsteel Service Centers USA in 2011 for about $660 million and is combining it with Namasco under the brand Kloeckner Metals.
The new entity is one of the largest carbon steel and flat-rolled producers in the US. Macsteel Service Centers USA focuses on flat products. Its addition to Namasco also expands Klöckner's industrial segment and may provide it access to the US automotive market as well.
The rebranding of the two companies under the name Kloecker Metals began in 2012 as an effort to attract more recognition to the new entity as a leader in the global metals distribution and service center industry. The combination makes it the third-largest metals distributor in North America.
Namasco made acquisitions in 2010 outside its normal base of operations, completing the purchase of the Becker Stahl-Service Group of Bönen, Germany, and acquiring the assets of California-based Angeles Welding & Mfg., and its subsidiary Get Steel Inc. Becker Stahl-Service Group is one of the largest steel service center companies in Europe. Angeles Welding is a steel fabrication company which also operates a steel service center that distributes carbon steel plate and sheet. – less
