3yr Synopsis at MPC
Driver, Brooklyn - August 22, 2014
A typical day at MPC will vary depending on your experience, knowledge of the boroughs, and patience. Working at MPC has VASTLY increased all of the above on top of other skills I have. But, MPC will never take advantage of these skills b/c a major downside is there is 0 opportunity for advancement in this company. Supervisors and Managers for the most part are incredibly egotistical, and many of the road supervisorial positions are given to ex-law enforcement for some strange reason. Drivers are cool, generally keep to themselves, and are helpful and respectful to all-Huge Plus. That, and if your able to handle a 10hr route, means you can have a 4 day workweek with at-least 2 days straight off, that is the biggest payoff. After that its pretty much downhill. The company has VERY shady payroll practices and you will always feel/know you are being short-changed-Huge Con. The Union that represents drivers has a little-to-nonexistent presence which allows for a lot of this shadiness. (E.g. I currently make less than 14.00/hr. The current starting rate is 14.00/hr.) So, if you are like myself and just trying to get some additional, valuable experience while you plan for something bigger or if this is the type of business practice you can put up with, then by all means apply.
