Was told during interviewing they "never layoff, unless work performance related." Went through a span of about a month where we lost $1.5-$2 MILLION DOLLARS OF WORK and numerous properties. During all this time, remaining over-employed (45-50 crew members -- should have been 30 tops) because management wanted to "build a strong team for Spring." Was laid off because they "didn't have the work to support me through the rest of the year."

No consistency with crews. You can be on pruning one day or two, then all of a sudden working on a maintenance crew.

Communication is horrendous within management. You'll get texts the morning of to tell you "No work today" or get there and then be sent home upon arrival. Crew leads will demand you work in the pouring rain, all because the OFMs are up their a**es, yet they just drive around in their pretty trucks all day, not getting wet.

Not sure if the company itself is this bad overall or just the branch in Wilmington You can look at the 1.8 star rating on Google and see how terrible of a branch Mainscape Wilmington is.

Good place to work at.

I recommend this job to anybody that likes detail work and rough weather conditions. Overall it's a great job really good environment. Good pay raises and they allow you to move locations.

They disclose personal information to other employees for no reason. Invasion of privacy. They are a horrible company to work for. Very little pay also. The owner is being charged with embezzlement.

Loved working outdoors, mowing, weed whacking and other grounds maintenance type work. Tools used were riding mower, tools to trim bushes and trees. The hardest part was getting laid off due to lack of work. It's a cut throat business in terms of the office/Supvr. finding enough work to keep the crew busy.

A typical day at work involved:

-Checking for telephonic messages left after work hours.
-Checking e-mail messages and responding to their requests or concerns.
-Meeting with management to see what their needs were and prioritizing them since there were four managers.
-Responding to telephonic messages since they may require more time.
-Filing vendor invoices.
-Created services for billing on spreadsheet format.
-Receiving customer requests or concerns throughout the day.
-Maintaining the office by ordering supplies such as uniforms, cell phones, office supplies.
-Working with HR related matters on any new employee processing: background checks, drug testing, and necessary forms. Dealt with work injury claims, payroll issues, request time off forms and
-Ordered heavy machine, landscape materials such as sod, trees and shrubs.
-Researched landscaping and irrigation materials for cost effectiveness.
-Printed payment invoice/attached services rendered to installation housing office.
-Made flight and lodging accommodations.
-Placed ads for new jobs in newspaper.
-Attend manager meetings.
-Managed/maintained office, acted upon manager and customer requests, dispatched drivers as needed for special request waste and bulk item pickup.
-Worked with housing office in terms of billing, customer concerns, and quality assurance.
-Assisted in new housing developments for landscape materials, and responded to requests as needed by project manager.
-Worked with vendors on waiver liens.
-Produced bids for new services requested by housing office.
-Created weakly billing
  more... services for quarters cleaning and landscape maintenance.
-Scheduled pickup for military families incoming and outgoing.
-Created billing as needed for another military installation and at a time, set up new offices in three other states.

Pros
As a former military spouse, I could understand and appreciate the military community, contributed to the quality of life for our service members and their families, learned so much about my mission and worked well my superiors.
Cons
Very busy at times because of work-load, but preferred it.
