RENTAL TECHNICIAN (Former Employee) – Mammoth Lakes, CA – July 10, 2017
A typical day working as a rental technician for Mammoth Mountain could be fun and laid back, but there are some days that you have to step up and work hard. Working for Mammoth Mountain taught me many things, such as, what true encouragement and leadership looks like. The workplace isn't your average 8-5 job, it's a place where you can develop friendships while also gaining experience. The employees all work together and help each other out any way they can. The hardest part of the job would probably be during peak season. Many guests come up at what seems like the same week/weekend and it can be stressful at times. But what is most rewarding with that is seeing a happy guest excited to go out on the snow for the first time and come back satisfied.
Equipment Technician (Former Employee) – Mammoth Lakes, CA – June 26, 2017
It was nice that they knew being in the center of action sports that they needed to have fun at work and allow their employees that opportunity everyday with long breaks to go mountain biking or snowboarding. I was given many opportunities to advance.
fun at work
no designated employee parking, hard to find parking during holidays
Coordinator (Former Employee) – Mammoth Lakes, CA – April 4, 2017
This was a great job to start off with being a high school student. Getting to hang out with kids all day and get them ready to go on the snow and learn how to ski or snow board and prepare their snacks and lunches
Parking Lot Attendant (Former Employee) – Big Bear Lake, CA – January 24, 2017
For me, the job was fun but also hard. It was my first job and the managers didn't understand that people have home lives that aren't the best. The hardest part about the job for me was that I was looked down upon by the people that have been there longer.
Snowboard Instructor (Former Employee) – Big Bear Lake, CA – June 30, 2016
I loved everything about this job, the only thing wrong with it is winter doesn't last forever! We we're always on our snowboards or skis, and if we weren't, we would be helping the instructor with their class.
Full time Snowboard instructor (Former Employee) – Mammoth, CA – May 3, 2016
Snow board instructing at mammoth was an incredible experience. Everyday was an exciting teaching different age's and different skill levels the techniques of snowboarding. I learned that using different teaching styles and examples for different age's is very effective. All of my coworkers were extremly friendly and inviting.
Free lunch, lunch penalty when with kids, Season pass to the mountain.
Lead Operator (Former Employee) – Mammoth Lakes, CA – September 28, 2015
Fun workplace with an interesting and diverse employee pool. Worked with people all over the world. Management was active in daily operations, and provided in depth employee reviews. Morning meetings with staff and management made it a friendly work environment. Politics between different departments could be frustrating at times.
Free lift pass, ski breaks, discounts
no benefits, seasonal position, department conflict
Snowboard Instructor (Former Employee) – Mammoth Lakes, CA – August 12, 2013
Working in the Snowsports school we got to meet a lot of people and have fun with them. When I left, the uniform policy became a little stricter, but they provided that. We also had lots of international co-workers, so it was fun getting to know them and making new connections. Work was dependent on the economy and snow, so out side of the busy holidays, hours could get a little sparse.
