About the Position
Working from the company’s headquarters in New York City, the Director of Marketing will (1) help define a clear marketing strategy for Manhattan Prep’s products and services, (2) work with and develop a team of marketers to drive that strategy, and (3) help shape the broader company direction through participation on Manhattan Prep’s executive leadership team. The Director of Marketing will report to the President.

The mission for the Director of Marketing is to leverage modern digital and field marketing practices to increase company revenue and return on investment.

We conduct in-person classes and private instruction across the United States, Canada, and the UK, and our Live Online courses, digital learning resources, and print books are available worldwide.

A successful Director of Marketing will play a critical role in shaping and realizing Manhattan Prep’s future growth trajectory in a rapidly evolving education industry. We’re looking to be inspired by your talent, ideas, and leadership.

Responsibilities:

1. Market insight
a.) Understand consumer preferences and behaviors.
b.) Track competitive offerings and pricing dynamics.
c.) Follow broad industry trends.

2. Brand management
a.) Hone market position using consumer, competitor, and industry insights.
b.) Articulate and communicate the brand’s value proposition through clear, compelling, and consistent language and aesthetic design.

3. Conversion funnel optimization and measurement
a.) Leverage SEO/SEM best practices, online advertising, content marketing strategies, partnerships, outbound communications, social media, field events, and other innovative approaches to optimize top-of-the-funnel brand awareness/site traffic generation, middle-of-the-funnel lead generation and nurturing, and bottom-of-the-funnel lead conversion.
b.) Define clear hypotheses for the impact of these approaches on the conversion funnel, establish key performance indicators and metrics, and evaluate efforts based on these metrics.

4. Website management
a.) Effectively communicate the brand’s value proposition through the site.
b.) Implement site design and user experience improvements to optimize the conversion funnel.

5. Marketing budget management
a.) Create and manage the company’s marketing budget.
b.) Submit monthly budget re-forecasts based on actual spending trends and anticipated changes in future-month spending.

6. Marketing team development
a.) Develop and implement a marketing team structure that supports the strategic and tactical goals of the department.
b.) Hire (where necessary), manage, and mentor marketing team members.

7. Leadership team participation & collaboration
a.) Serve on a team responsible for shaping the strategic and operational direction of the business.
b.) Work closely with the company’s lead business developer to align priorities and deliver on larger-scale business development.

Required Experience:
A successful candidate will have multi-year experience leading a team of marketers and demonstrated success using modern digital and field marketing strategies to increase revenue and return on investment.
