Strategy
Supplying temporary employees to businesses on an as-needed basis accounts for the bulk of the company's business, with most of its sales coming from office and light-industrial placements. ManpowerGroup is focused on its professional staffing services (Experis) division, however, which has been its fastest-growing segment.
Geographic Reach
Operations outside the US, including Manpower UK, account for about 85% of Manpower's sales. During 2011 Manpower acquired Proservia SA, a provider of information technology and systems engineering solutions in France. The company has also been expanding its Asia/Pacific presence, where Manpower made acquisitions in China and India in 2012 as well.
Mergers & Acquisitions
In keeping with its strategic focus on professional staffing services, ManpowerGroup acquired COMSYS IT Partners in 2010 for about $375 million. The Houston-based firm provided information technology staffing through more than 50 offices in the US, Canada, and the UK. ManpowerGroup integrated the staffing operations into its Experis unit.
