Working at Marshall's is a learn will you work place
Cashier & Stock &CSC (Former Employee), New Britain CT – May 15, 2013
Pros: working with a team
Cons: favoritism
I learned at Marshall's that the more you learn the better you are place in the eye of management . Most people are pick for position and other's have to earn them .I say this to say this job taught me that no matter what it take's ,Any train classes or coarse that are offered take them and gain knowledge of the company ..So that advancement is always – more... a option for you .. Knowledge of your job is the key to growth – less

Great place to meet people
Operations Manager (Former Employee), Norfolk, VA – May 5, 2013
Pros: the pay is good
Cons: long hours
Great place to grow and get promoted to a coordinator. If you have short term goals of being promoted to assistant or store manager if wont happen. Managers do stay around for a long time.

Basic retail job with great managers and co-workers
Sales Associate/Cashier (Former Employee), Blaine, MN – May 5, 2013
I would arrive for my shift for the day (usually either a 5 or 8 hour shift) either in the morning to open or the evening and work until close. After punching in, I would go to the service desk to see where I would be working. If I was working on the floor, I would go straight to the fitting room and start taking clothes back out onto the floor. I would – more... also sometimes be responsible for putting new merchandise from the stock room out onto the floor as well. Keeping my section clean and organized was a constant task throughout the shift. I would usually be the one to cover the fitting room associate's and cashier's breaks as well. Other days, I was on the cash register for the whole shift. No matter which position I worked in, providing customer service was always the number one priority. My co-workers were always easy to get along with and good people to work with because each employee worked to get their tasks done but were always willing to help others when help was needed. The managers were always sensitive to the employees' needs and very understanding when it came to needing time off, switching shifts with another employee, etc. They always wanted the best for the sales associates and did everything they could to maintain a positive working environment. Some of the more busy days could get stressful. It would be difficult to keep up with all the work that needed to be done, and sometimes almost required for a sales associate to be two places at once. But the co-workers and managers made those types of days easier since they were always willing to help out someone who had a lot that needed to be done. This was my first real job, and it taught me basic skills such as how to work the cash register, what the responsibilities of a sales associate in retail are, and basically how to function in the workplace. It also taught me the importance of getting along with fellow employees and why teamwork can be such an important aspect while working. – less

Sales Associate and Cashier (Former Employee), Gurnee, IL – April 24, 2013
Pros: iliked working in this store, loved the merchandise
Cons: standing in the same area for sometimes 8hrs.when not very busy
fitting room attendant, monitoring what goes in and out the fitting room, and keeping the fitting rooms in order and clean,I learned that when you go out of your way to help a customer and they appreciate what you have done for them.Co-workers were nice and the hardest part of the job was keeping the merchandise going back to the floor as soon as possible – more... when it was very busy, and I liked meeting and making friends with the customers. – less

Fast Food
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Palm Springs, CA – March 16, 2013
Working in such a very popular and busy fast food restaurant really benefitted me in a way that I wasn't really expecting. A typical day working in McDonalds was once you clocked in, you were jumping into a running marathon that was never ending. My job as a cashier, my job was to basically keep things well prepared in order to keep the day running – more... smoothly. I learned to work fast and still giving that excellent customer service. Management I can say was pretty tough but it was kept our title good. Co-workers varied so I wouldn't say much. Hardest part of this job was being able to work in a fast pace but doing pretty much everything yourself. At the end working in McDonalds was a very fun yet difficult job that taught me the essentials for a daily basis busy environment. – less

good place for teens to start
Sales Floor Associate - Stock Room Associate (Former Employee), Atwater, CA – March 5, 2013
Pros: the people i met in the stockroom
Cons: fake bosses
not so much a good place to work for adults, there is no way to live on minimum wage. The hours were horrible and the managers are never up front with you. they say how great you're doing then the next moment your gone. wouldn't recommend anyone except kids to work there.

Busy and productive work place
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Houston, TX – February 22, 2013
A typical day at work was restocking clothes. The managers and coworkers were nice and helpful. The hardest part about the job was working on holidays because there were so many people doing last minute shopping and the store was super busy. I really enjoyed working with my coworkers.
