Fun, hands on, and clean atmosphere
Store Associate (Former Employee), Jacksonville, FLJuly 11, 2014
A typical in this job was hopping around from station to station gaining experience in all positions. I learned a liitle more sales skills, merchandising, fitting room attendance, organization skills, service desk and so on. Management was very active within the establishment and there to help whenever we needed. My co workers were nice and polite at – more... all times. I would say that the hardest part of this job was meeting the deadline for the grand opening of this location. Everything about this job was enjoyable. – less

A typical day at work is busy. I learned how to keep up with myself by getting things done and some, I learned that when working alone I move faster. The manager, Kim was a very nice person. The co-workers were also nice and always had a smile. The most enjoyable part about working at marshalls was meeting new people.

An often tedious workplace with low pay.
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Yonkers, NYJune 9, 2014
Pros: employee discounts
Cons: low pay
As a sales associate a typical day consists of constantly cleaning up the sales floor after customers, assisting customers, returning clothes from the fitting room and return racks back to the sales floor, randomly helping with price checks, and placing new arrivals in their proper place on the sales floor. While working there I learned how to multitask – more... better and put more focus into completing tasks as quickly and efficiently as possible. The managers I worked with were decent and would sometimes help with the work load around closing time so that employees can leave work on time. The coworkers that I worked with were friendly and fun people, unfortunately my job did not allow me to have much interaction with my coworkers. The hardest part of the job as a sales associate is time management, multitasking, and working really hard for little pay. The most enjoyable part was putting new items on the sales floor and putting aside items for yourself to buy at a discounted price later. – less

A good company to work for
Fitting Room Sales Associate (Former Employee), Bonney Lake, WAJune 8, 2014
Pros: good incentive mini food parties. pizza, ice cream socials. catered holiday meals.
Cons: short breaks, not sufficient for hours worked.
The company offers advancement opportunities. Overall a company that offers good quality merchandise at an affordable price. I really enjoyed my job at Marshall, most of all the repoire I established with customers as a fitting room attendant. I honestly feel the 1 minute tardy, your fired policy is a little ridiculous.

I did not enjoy this job. Management had very little to do with me and I was not trained on half the procedures I needed to know. Very little room to grow within the company.

Sales Associate & Customer Service (Current Employee), Princeton, NJMay 30, 2014
Pros: weekly pay, co-workers are nice, the work schedules are very flexible, the managers bring in food for everyone, and the break room is decorated for holidays
Cons: on your feet non-stop and short lunch
Marshall's is a friendly workplace. Hands one task. Lots of free time since they do not hire full time you will never have more than 25 hours a week in the . This was confirmed by all employees that the management will not let you get more than 25 hours a week

Fast pace, fun and challenging place to work at.
Sales Associate (Former Employee), El Centro, CAMay 29, 2014
Pros: managment always rewarded the team for hard work. raffles for best employees happened on the regular
A typical day at Marshalls I would open the registers, and start cleaning and putting away the go-back if any where left from the previous night. When customers walked into the store I would greet them. I learned to deal with different types of customers and when they were being pushy. That was the hardest part of the job, dealing with people who loved – more... to bargain shop and always wanting better deal. My co-workers were a lot of fun to be around and they were very motivational. I liked to move around in the store and find new possibilities that I had. My managers had so much constructive criticism and it helped me develop into a much better employee. – less

Great job for people barely going into the work enviroment
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Sacramento, CAMay 21, 2014
Marshall's was my first real job and it was a great experience. I learned a lot about what it takes to have a job. Some days were very busy and you were challenged with keeping up with the customer's needs, which can make time flow. Other days, it was not so busy and you had to find other things to do to keep you busy.

Great retail chain and atmosphere yet poor wages and chance to advance
Associate (Former Employee), Beachwood, OHMay 21, 2014
Pros: great atmosphere and customers
Cons: poor wages, virtually no room for advancement
Work as an associate would place employees in positions to work in stock, cashiering, layaways, sales floor or customer service desk. In a few cases some associates would have to work almost all of the above with little to no assistance and a high volume of customers. With this combined a lot of customers would become upset due to the high wait times – more... for assistance due to one person doing three to four jobs simultaneously at three different locations. The easiest part of the job would be dealing with the customers when you are doing your assigned job as intended. The hardest part would be explaining to the customers that you apologize for the wait when you must multitask within distances and time that are not customer service adequate or friendly. – less

Positivity along with a friendly environment.
Store member (Shoe department) (Former Employee), Riverside, CAMay 13, 2014
Even though I spent most of my time in the shoe department at Marshall's, the other employees made my time spent there enjoyable. They made the working environment very comfortable as well as friendly. They constantly asked if I were interested in a future serious job with them (I worked under "workability" at the time) when I turn 18 and was asking – more... how I was and if anything happened at work. Not only did I learn about shoes, as well as clothes, but I also was able to improve my communication skills with new people. Honestly, the only regret I have is not asking if I can move to another department like home goods or clothes. – less
