Chain of command
Merchandise Manager (Former Employee), Levittown, PA – April 9, 2013
Pros: i love the team leaders and associates that i worked with.
Cons: there were six people within two weeks that gave notice, could not respect manager due to this
I was suppose to be a merchandise salary manager. Yet my store manager seemed to go to team leaders before going through chain of command. I could not watch her speak to associates in the manner she used on the sales floor it was very unprofessional. Did not feel comfortable due to disrespect .

Productive and a lot to learn
Sales Associate (Former Employee), Plainville, CT – April 8, 2013
Unload the company's truck and organize the merchandise.
Learned each item belonged to a different department.
Manager was very strict but friendly.
Co workers were fine to work with.
Hardest part was finding space for everything on the floor.
Enjoyable part was looking at the new items.

Merchanidse Coordinator (Current Employee), Greenbelt, MD – April 3, 2013
Pros: free lunchons, benefits
Cons: multitasking
Working at Marshalls is an enjoyable environment to work in. It is fun working here becasue you get to see all the lovely merchandise before it hits the sales floor. The most enjoyable part of the job is the employee are very friendly and helpful. The hardest part of the job is sometimes you will be pulled away from your daily duties to help another – more... department on a regular basis. I have learned that you have to multitask in order to get the job done. – less

Productive job but fun environment
Cashier (Former Employee), Commack, NY – April 1, 2013
A typical day at work consists of being on the register and when the store isn't busy I go onthe floor and help runk racks. Not only that but sometimes I am in charge of the fitting room so I stay there all night. My co-workers make the job really fun and enjoyable. If were on the floor together we help each other out and chat along the way which makes – more... the day go by faster. The hardest part of the job is when I'm presented with something to do that I'm not familiar with. I have been there for a year so I knoe most of the things but there are times when I'm presented with a difficult situation, which then I ask my store manager. – less

a busy place to work
SALES FLOOR ASSOCIATE (Former Employee), Indianapolis, IN east side – March 28, 2013
Pros: working with a great crew and our discount
Cons: could get very stressful around inventory time and holidays
It would start with getting the dressing room ready for guests with cleaning with a vacuum with the ability to get the normally out of reach areas dusted, the mirrors cleaned, the stalls dusted and supplies checked and stocked. The store had personal two way radios for the floor people, management, and security to use and they had to be checked each – more... morning as well as put on a charger each night. I had a marvelous time helping our guests find just the right clothes for whatever occation that was coming up. Sometimes the floor people had to be called in if the correct size was not brought in. Even though it did not seem like there was not more than one or two people available, there usually was plenty to do what needed to be done. Closing could be difficult if not enough people were there. Sometimes after finishing the paperwork I was in other areas putting away whatever clothing or goods were left in the dressing room, and cleaning up the different areas [there were four areas not counting the cashier area]. The hardest part of this job was the shoplifters and the internal theft that could go on. I have never understood why people steal. I was able to give good directions to the different stores based on my knowledge of Indianapolis, and was very professional on the telephone. Our guests were tops. – less

Sales Associate (Former Employee), Grapevine, TX – March 27, 2013
I worked for this company when i was in high school and it was a great experience. The training was great and the people were amazing. This job was a great stepping stone for my future jobs. Great for high school people, but not good to make a career out of it.

We were just remodeled so we look very inviting. A fun place to shop.
Merchandise Associate (Current Employee), Orlando Fl. – March 26, 2013
Pros: the senior manager acts as chef for our company picnics.
Cons: every two hours we get a 15 minute break and we can join the 401 k
I work part time as a cashier, sometimes I work in the fitting rm. This job has continued to teach me greet my customers with a smile and a friendly greeting. Several of our customers do not speak English, so we work at understanding each other with short sentences and talking with our hands. I have meet some very nice people.
We have a great management – more... team. My co-workers are professionals and work hard.
The hardest part of the job is attempting to speak with the customers that come from other countries that speak very little English. But this is also the most enjoyable part of my job because it usually turns out to be fun and we all wind up laughing with each other. I hope I have made them feel at home in my country. – less

a friendly and safe work environment
Sales floor coordinator (Current Employee), Duluth, GA – March 25, 2013
Pros: great employees, management, customers
Cons: short hours, health care
a typical work day for me consists of me approaching customer with a smile.Interacting with managers and employee to ensure 100% customer service ,which help me learn to have great patients and communication skills. I've been blessed to work around great management that has educated me step by step on how to push for sales, and how expand and grow within – more... the company. The hardest part of my job to me is actually stopping what I am doing and reminding my self to take a lunch. What I enjoy most is keeping my self busy and helping assist customers. – less
