I would still be there had it not been that the position was a political appointment. The new government administration took over and abolished a number of positions.

There have been a lot of changes in leadership, policies and philosophy at MDOT since the Gov. Hogan Administration. Personal politics aside, I think these changes are for the best and MDOT will continue to be a great place to build a career.

Yes, there's plenty of opportunities to work overtime but be aware that higher pay grades limit your eligibility for cash overtime. Only entry level engineers are eligible (typically for the first year). After that, it's strictly pre-approved comp-time. To be honest, with the deliberately onerous paperwork, most people will just end up working overtime for free.
