Library & Learning Services IT Graduate Assistant (Former Employee), Arlington, VAMarch 3, 2014
Pros: working in an educational setting with many congenial co-workers and tuition reimbursement.
Cons: at times having to keep myself busy at work by creating new projects to accomplish.
My position entailed working IT support for over 120 Marymount Library computers while also being readily available to assist both librarians and library patrons. I consistently demonstrated both a hard work ethic and patience in my daily duties. Librarians were very pleased with my work and verbally informed my supervisor that they wished for me to – more... work with them as long as possible. The hardest part of my job was when there were no more computer updates to be performed and also there were few students in which to give assistance, thus I had to keep myself busy and find new projects to complete. The most enjoyable part of my job was interacting with my co-workers and librarians. They would tell me on a daily basis of how pleased they were with my work and one librarian specifically appreciated the amount of patience I exhibited while working on highly complex technology issues. – less

Marketing Intern (Former Employee), Arlington, VAJanuary 2, 2014
Pros: internship was on school grounds.
This job my internship which is counted as a course credit in order to graduate. The management was an awesome team that allowed me to experiment and create new things and also put my course skills to work. The most enjoyable part of the job was reaching out to students about things they expected and needed from the school library that would make students – more... use the library more. I also enjoyed creating focus groups to target in on what students really needed and how they felt about certain things. The hardest part of the job was when not as many people showed up to the focus group that had signed up. This was a hard task for me because I was unsure of how to go on with the next part of my marketing plan. – less

Exciting, productive and exciting place to work
University Center Manager (Current Employee), Arlington, VANovember 22, 2013
Pros: plenty of opportunites to callobrate with colleagues, laid back work environment, flexible schedule and good work life balance
Cons: limited opportunities to advance
A typical day is very hectic in the office. I'm challenged everyday to solve a variety of challenges. Our office is very small so team members have to quickly adapt to working in a small space while working towards the end result. I work very closely with colleagues and members of my team to achieve shared outcomes.

My co-workers are very supportive – more... and enthusiastic about the work that that they do. The hardest part of the job is implementing projects, launching initiatives with limited fiscal and personnel resources.

The most enjoyable part of the job is working, meeting and planning project with community members in various capacities. The work environment is very small but every inviting and accommodating. The work environment presents many challenges but it's very enjoyable to work through those challenges with a diverse group of individuals. – less

Library and Archiving Assistant (Former Employee), Arlington, VAJuly 8, 2013
In my work as a Library and Archiving Assistant at Marymount University, I was given many responsibilities: I organized vast quantities of paperwork, arranged large numbers of school material such as newspaper clippings, photographs and video tapes for placement in the university archives, and regularly catalogued the library books. In doing so, I developed – more... a practical understanding of the office dynamic, and the system through which information of all sorts go through. – less
