MMP is a great place to start a career. The managers are a nurturing group, that are dedicated to the cause of mentoring. As with most non-profits staff are expected to "wear multiple hats". As a young, recently graduated employee, MMP allowed me to collaborate with cross functionally with each department. I found this to be beneficial as I able to identify a role for myself within the organization, while learning the functions of each department/team.
The management team was comprised of smart individuals, that focused on meeting our yearly goals. The organization was flexible enough to allow younger, less experienced staff to part take in goal setting.
The hardest part of this job is the high turnover. It was really difficult to work on long term projects. Many important roles within the organization were filled by AmeriCorp members which required what I would describe as a "launch period". Much time is spend bringing up new employees. In addition to AmeriCorps, most full time employees left the organizations within two years.
