Working at Massage Envy

What are the average starting salaries, bonuses, benefits and travel requirements like at Massage Envy? What do you like best about working at Massage Envy? Are there any great perks or special treats for employees?

What do you think -- is this company going to survive and thrive? Are they looking to expand their staff, or do you think layoffs are inevitable? How does Massage Envy stack up against the competition?

For anyone looking for a job with Massage Envy, think again! I am speaking from experience, they promise hourly plus commission, but you never get hourly. $15 an hour is an outrage and an insult to any M.therapist in the field, and they have no respect for their therapists. You'll deal with repeat customers who will harass you,be rude, perverted, and M. Envy will welcome them back with open arms. Trust me, if you thought about working for them ,go somewheres else, it is not worth it.

First of all if you are looking into becoming a massage therapist DO NOT PAY OVER $10K FOR TOTAL TUITION COSTS!! Even that is too much, I went to a community/technical college and payed half that amount total! Massage therapist only make about $10K-$30K(at most) per year before taxes. I feel so sorry for those who have gone to bs "private" colleges and payed over $20K to get out and have to pay that back on such a small salary.

For anyone that lives remotely near a massage envy - beware! If you are interested in a "clinic administrator" position, look the other way. Be good to yourself, and look elsewhere! I had a horrible expereince applying for a CA position. The people at massage envy were very unprofessional and treat their massage therapists poorly. The CA position in itself is a joke. When interviewed, they explain about great benefits, paid training in Phoenix, and how it's a great company to work for. Well, if you are into belittling the work of massage therapist - go for it. This company strives to make massage therapists work like dogs, for very little pay, and cover it up with fancy centers and flashy marketing. Please, take my advice - if you are a massage therapist, do yourself a favor - find work in a place where you'll be appreiciated and where you can do the work you like - not do the work you are told to do.

I'm thinking about canceling my Massage Envy membership. Does anyone know how hard it is to cancel a membership? I haven't looked at the contract yet, but I imagine there are penalities.

Are there any estheticians out there who are working in the spa portion of Massage Envy, and if so, what has your expereince been?

short and sweet, have you had a co-worker be accused of sexual impropriety or assault? Did said person pass background check? If so, how did your manager and clinic handle it? Did you involve the police? How did you compensate client? Thank you. by the way, google MASSAGE+ENVY+SEXUAL+ASSAULT

Being a me therapist these comments are very humorous to me. I've been employed at me for 8 months & not one day have I felt overworked. I tell THEM how many massages I will do per day, I am asked to do things I am not told. I make $20 per hour and my tips average between $11 to $30 per massage. Hell I received a $40 tip today! And yes I have health benefits!! Of which me pays half. So for those of you only receiving $5 tips.....maybe its you or your clients don't appericate you. I find the clients for the most part to be well-mannered people but there are always one or two bad apples in the bunch. Just my view on the world of me........

My daughter was hired by Massage Envy as the Lead and in the New Employee is a contract that I had an attorney look at and it says that if she quits or is fired she can't work for 1 year in the field of massage and also for a geographical area for the next 2. Do all locations use this contract? She is a recent graduate and I can't believe that they would keep her from working some where else if it doesn't work out for her there.
