MasTec is a joke
Tower Tech (Former Employee), Chicago, IlJanuary 30, 2014
Cons: everything
This job is the WORST! I used to work for this company for about a year and a half and as a "minority, there is a lot of nepotism and politics.
I came out of the newly formed Chicago market where the directors and program managers don't know anything about tower construction. The executive's has his inexperienced daughter working in admin' placing us – more... in raggedy hotels.
Two a room, might I add.
As a result of over-budgeting and over-spending the field techs incentives have been ripped from us which is why we are placed in rooms with other techs while we're thousands of miles away from our families where all these higher end corporate heads get to dictate our job ethics of working in the freezing cold until 2am in the morning, from their homes.
They overwork their field techs only to shiest you in the end by hiring out GC's so their higher ups can raise on commission. The lower man at the pay-grades totem pole definitely finishes out at the bottom. Not to mention they take FOREVER to give a pay raise.
For or them to be a communications company, their HR department sucks. Several times I've requested to be transferred for advancement but due to their politics and "he-say/she-say", I and other employees have been shafted.
They violate their D.O.T. codes and regulations as well as OSHA. My next move is to report them to the the Bureau of Labor and Statistics.
This company is not a job that grants stability or good work ethics. – less

Poor at helping you or letting you know how to fix an issue
Satellite TV Installation Technician (Former Employee), Mifflinburg, PAJanuary 28, 2014
Pros: company car, cheap tv
Cons: almost everything else exept the work enviorment at the local office was nice
Mastec as a company is very corporate in that your local supervisor have no say in what is going on. They will not show you what is wrong just a score card with some numbers on it and no way of proving the numbers accurate. Also benifits were bad before obama care came about so i expect it to get worse. And as a tech the house suck and they don't care – more... if your wife is in the hospital or your on your death bed you better get your work done or you will get a write up. – less

Installer for DIRECTV/Sales representative (Former Employee), Miami, FLJanuary 18, 2014
Pros: was able to make my own windows of tim during workdays
Cons: stress leves put by managers
go to costumer house or locations, install their equipment, give costumer service, managers were unprofessional, co-workers were friendly, dealing with inclement weather was the harder par of it, seen the costumers satisfaction was the best part of it.

Dispatcher (Former Employee), Coppell, TXJanuary 18, 2014
Cons: very poor place to work
This is a place no one should work at. The pay for the job is not worth the pay. They make you work two jobs and only get paid for one. They do not care about you as a person or for your family all they are worried about is if you are sitting in the chair and answering the phone

Unorganised, and underpaid for the amount of work required
Lead Field Technician (Former Employee), Greensboro, NCDecember 29, 2013
Pros: company vehicle, fuel card, some tools ( basically just hand tools and ladders. no drills, bits, gps, digging tools, ect.)
Cons: expect to learn most things from you own experience on site, promotions based on automated points system
This company has a pass/fail attitude towards their employees. If you are looking to revolve your life around your job then this company is for you. Long strenuous hours with heavy travel times, and an unorganised inhouse call center who routs all contracted installations to you electronically on out dated equipment that works after beating and banging – more... through their home fabbed software that they provide no training for yet expect you to be productive and rate you as such.

All for Peace rate pay with high back charges upon customer satisfaction review. – less
