Great Place to learn
MANAGER (Former Employee), Los Angeles, CaFebruary 21, 2014
You get to work in a fast Pace environment and learn with each different customer. You just basically become an expertise in haircutting and styling. Not much to say about management since I was the manager for a year. But the coworkers are great. The enjoyable part of the job is to see a customer leave feeling much happier with how they look. Confidence – more... was the key. – less

Pros: clients, some staff
Cons: management, pay, reputation
I barely lasted a year, I was with the company 12 years before being at a lower budget part of the chain and management was horrible.

Enjoyed working with different people each day
Area Supervisor (Former Employee), Phoenix, AZSeptember 10, 2013
Pros: company car and credit card
Cons: to many stores out of town
A typical work day was going through computer reports, working with a different manager on goals for their salon, appraising stylist for their work and helping deal with any problems, calling maintains if anything need fix, relaying any messages from corporate office and helping customers find what they are looking for. I am very good with people giving – more... instruction on how to do things and what needs to be accomplished. I like to work side by side with them when possable. People like a manager that will do the same as they are asked to do.I enjoy getting to know my co-workers to see what they are capable of doing and what they are best at.Not getting to spend alot of time in one store. Meeting and working with some amazing people. – less

not a bad job
Stylist (Former Employee), College Station, TXAugust 12, 2013
Pros: amazing clients coworkers and tips
Cons: horrible pay hours and managment
it wasn't a terrible job the worst part was having 3 different managers who all ran things differently and then getting a new district manager who ran things different as well so it made things chaotic and everything was unorganized......but the tips were good and the clients were amazing but they were only loyal to the salon and not the stylist

Pays nothing and not busy at all!
Stylist (Former Employee), Jacksonville, FlMay 19, 2013
Pros: nice coworkers and modern salon
Cons: pay, insurance, working alone for six hours without a break, closing by yourself, and taking deposit to bank by yourself!eak
This is the worst salon I have ever worked for. Regis company has several chain salons and I'm sure they make lots of money off it, yet they pay their employees minimum wage! My store was not busy at all. I would not even waste time!

Self Motivated work enviroment
Licensed Cosmetoligist (Former Employee), Champaign, ILMay 6, 2013
Pros: loyal customers, fast paced
Cons: unorganized management
Working for Mastercuts was at first a challenge in my Cosmetology Career, do greatly in part to the fact that I was an inexperienced stylist. But my confidence grew quickly. The fast paced enviroment challenged my abilities as a stylist and with customer service. The management was under great stress during my time there and was truely a detriment to – more... the Corporation. Three managers came in during the year I as employed and the corporation showed little loyalty to its staff. I learned a great deal at Mastercuts, hard work, communication and an appreciation for achieving goals and establishing loyal cliental. – less

MasterCuts is a salon great for start out cosmetologist. However, there is no real growth. And they undervalue their employees. The pay is literally nothing.

Keeps you very busy
Stylist (Former Employee), Fayetteville, NCJanuary 15, 2013
Pros: stayed busy
Cons: late night bank runs
Because of its great location they get a lot of business. I like that because keeping busy makes the day go by faster. The only part of the job that I did not like is that you and one other person that closes with you had to take the money to the bank everynight. Sometimes we wouldnt get out of there until 10 or 11 and I didnt think it was safe to be – more... a female late at night taking money to the bank. – less
