Mismanaged
Production Supervisor (Former Employee), Livonia Michigan – February 21, 2013
Poor management structure. A lot of the people in management literally have no supervisor or management experience, but rather were put in those positions because of people that they knew.

Highly UN-Recommended
Information Technologist (Former Employee), Kingsville, Ontario – January 23, 2013
Pros: entry-level staff is friendly
Cons: no overtime pay (which is against labour laws)
No overtime pay, No morals or values, No job security, Confused Management and Polcies, All work and No life. Nothing is done properly. Everything is ad hoc. Management likes to bully their employees. It's not what you know, it's who you know if you want a promotion. Ego trumps knowledge. Management likes to fire good employees so they can get their – more... friends hired. However; entry-level staff is friendly. – less

I personally enjoyed my co-workers there because we all tried to make it easy, less stressful, and work together to be more efficient.
Hi-Lo Driver (Former Employee), Livonia, MI – January 20, 2013
Pros: co-workers
Cons: management, unorganized
There was a lot of good and bad about Mastronardi Produce. The most important bad problem was that there were way too many "captains" or people in charge. when one would tell you to do something, another one would come up behind them and tell you to do something totally different. Which ever one you picked to do first, would always end in you getting – more... in trouble by the "captain" who had to wait till you finished doing something for the first "captain". The good was that there were days where everything just fell right into place, everything went smooth, and everything got done. I cant exactly say that is just about Mastronardi because i guess you can have good days at any work place. Another good was my co-workers. there was a few that cared more about them selves then the "team" but every job has those people. there was a group of people at Mastronardi that i can honestly cared more about helping the WHOLE "team" and not just looking for personal gain. – less

Very stressful and wants you to live for work
Commodity Inventory Controller (Former Employee), Livonia, MI – January 11, 2013
Pros: decent salary
Cons: never actually off duty, phone and laptop provided so you can always be reached.
In management your typical day has no standard start time. You receive phone calls at all hours of the night and day since they are a 24 hour/365 day operation. I learned there that you do not have a job description and you stick to it, you will always be responsible for others and their positions as well. Most management does not want to take responsibility – more... for themselves. Co-workers were like any other place, some great workers, some very lazy. The hardest part of the job was working for a higher manager that did not know what they were doing. The most enjoyable part of the job before a recent new manager was hired was making sure our customers were delivered quality product. After the new manager was hired was walking out of the door at the end of the day. – less

Horrible Communication Poor Management
line worker (Former Employee), livonia Mi – January 7, 2013
Pros: free produce
Cons: threatening coworkers/ managers coming to work drunk and high.
The managers are immature. I found that hard work and integrity did not pay off. If someone found solutions to existing problems it created jealousy. There was a complete lack of team work. Favoritism is a problem in any workplace but here it was like a cancer.

Line Worker (Former Employee), Livonia, MI – December 17, 2012
Pros: its a job
Cons: not ideal job, cold
I was considered one of the harder workers for company when i was there but, hard work is no rewarded. You have to stand for long periods on hard floor,it's cold, and there is a lot of favortism within company.I advise anyone to be ready to put up with short breaks because you only get 2 the whole 12 1/2 hrs. you'll be here.

very productive and have great staff
Package Handler/Sorter (Current Employee), Livonia, MI – September 19, 2012
typical day at work will be working very hard and try to succeed. I've learned about different varieties of vegetables such as tomatoes and cucumbers. The management is very nice but could be stricked but that helps alot especially to alot of people who doesn't know how to do the work right away. My coworkers are very nice well a very few but im not – more... working because of coworkers im working for me. The hardest part of the job is inspecting and grading the product even when we have bad product at times. the most enjoyable part about the job is getting to know everyone and talking and enjoying yourself at work. – less

Line Worker from workforce (Current Employee), Canton, MI – August 27, 2012
Pros: helpful training
Cons: 30min. breaks every 4hours.
My typical day is standing for long hours ensuring the quality graded produce is being shipped the most I learned by working. For the company is the well beings of customers who will purchase the products as I ship out the packages....I learned what to look for in the packages. Learned how to make a place THE P.L.U's on the products before shipping

Mastronardi Produce
Inventory Administrator (Former Employee), Livonia, MI – August 17, 2012
Pros: free to roam, attire was very optional.
Cons: management, respect, raises
Everyday i would punch in at 430pm then begin my shift at my computer station located in production. Each day before the line workers made their way to the line i would check to make sure all of the days labels were ordered correctly for the work to begin. Being a computer administrator has its ups and down simply because some days are faster than other, – more... but that's to be expected in warehouse facilities. The most enjoyable part of my job was being able to assist the hi lo drivers with extra needed help. If I had any down time I would grab a hi lo and contribute help. Management was a significantly poor, I tried to keep a positive attitude each day at work but the decision some mangers/supervisors make on a daily basis "obstruct your view" on the true goals of your job. Other than management and human resources down fall I enjoyed my fellow colleagues. – less
