Ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing preventative maintenance requirements on engines, motors, company vehicles, pneumatic tools, welding machines, production equipment and related hand tools.
Follows diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, manufacturer's instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation; listening for problems; using precision measuring and testing instruments.
Performs routine inspections to ensure safe and dependable operation of all manufacturing and electrical equipment.
Removes and replaces defective parts by dismantling devices; using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools; examining form and texture of parts.
Controls downtime by informing production workers of routine preventative maintenance techniques; monitoring compliance.
Maintains equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed equipment, parts, and supplies; placing and expediting orders; verifying receipt.
Prepares mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. Documents all maintenance and preventative maintenance programs and tracks repairs and routine maintenance requirements.
Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing technical publications; establishing personal networks.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations and lockout/tagout procedures.
At least five years experience repairing, servicing and repairing production equipment preferable in a custom steel manufacturing environment. Knowledge of all types of fabrication shop equipment as well as electronic circuitry and component functions preferred.
High school education or equivalent, combined with good math skills, and/or a technical degree in electronics or equivalent.
