Fun and productive place to work.
Cashier and Order Taker (Former Employee), Southaven, MSJuly 9, 2014
A typical day at McAlister's involved me doing a cleaning detail when I arrived, taking orders and running customers their food. At the end of the day I did another cleaning detail then went home. It was an overall very easy job and a good enviroment.

Great work place if you like spending most of your time at home
Cook (Former Employee), Fort Smith, ARJuly 8, 2014
Pros: great work/life balance (a little heavy on the life part)
Cons: poor management, not enough hours, lack of communication between front employees and kitchen employees
I worked at McAlister's Deli for a little more than a year. I loved it at first, the trainers were a delight, the new employees were great and nobody rushed anybody. All that changed once the training was over and the GM (General Manager) took the reigns. Employees were quitting left and right, we started losing money, and the GM was making the female – more... employees uncomfortable. I felt like the lower level employees were forced to work harder than what was required of them, but I didn't mind working hard. I enjoyed that part. What I was not a fan of, however, was the managers standing around being lazy and texting on their phones for two hours while we are in the middle of a rush. I think with some better management McAlister's Deli could be a great place to work. Until that day though, I don't recommend ever applying at this place unless it is an absolute last resort. – less

Pros: free drinks, good management
This has been my favorite job. I love McAlister's deli, and consider everyone who works there, family. We have very busy lunches and sometimes busy nights. We sell a lot of tea and even in the summer, we sell a lot of soup. Most of my co-workers are very awesome people. The hardest part of my job is, well, nothing is very hard for me. I love my job and – more... being busy. – less

Productive and fun place to work at
manager (Current Employee), shreveport, laMay 21, 2014
A typical day would be me opening up the store doing a walk around on the close the night before, counting the safe, doing all my paper work, checking emails then helping set up the kitchen. I learned from being a regular employee to now becoming a manager that it changed my life drastically because now I have a serious role and at first it was hard – more... for me to disconnect myself from still being friends with the people I work with to now being their boss so that taught me a lot and I also learn that not all guest are mean and always nagging that sometimes all they want you to do is listen. my co-workers I love each and every one of them I mean we all have our fall outs but at the end of the day they know its my job and they get over it but they are the absolute best. the hardest part of my job is when a guest is not happy especially if they already had a bad day so I try to do whatever to make the experience worthwhile and the most enjoyable day is coming in and having guest ask for you by name just to hold either a conversation or just to see you period. – less

Fast pace and working as a team to make the guest satisfied
Crew Member (Current Employee), Waynesboro, VAMay 4, 2014
I work as a crew member, 'front of the house' and 'back of the house'. When I work in the front I am a cashier or a runner, my job is greet the guest, to take orders correctly, serve the food, getting refills, and cleaning.

If I am working and the back my job is to help make the food. My duties are to make sure the food is mad right, clean as I go – more... and stock for the next shift. – less

Great Co-workers and Customers
Cashier/Customer Service (Former Employee), Macon, GAApril 23, 2014
Pros: tips, flexible schedule
Cons: slippery floors behind the registers
I worked at McAlister's Deli for four years. This was my first job ever! I have good and bad memories, but overall I liked the atmosphere when I was employed there. I learned here how the fast food industry works. I was a cashier, waitress, prep, and eventually a trainer for new employees. While working there I went through quite a few managers. Luckily – more... through all the change I was able to get along with all of them. My co-workers were hilarious. I never had a dull moment when I was around them. the hardest part of the job was trying not to slip and fall after somebody mopped behind the registers. The most enjoyable part of the job was the customers. It's a great feeling coming in and a customer has specifically asked for you to serve them. – less
