Was family owned till 2013 a conglomerate bought them out now the McTyre family are just making as much money as they can before the conglomerate takes over and they are out of the company. Here you might be home every day doing local stuff or on the road, this company is local, regional and OTR all at the same time. Trucks are daycabs and they pay for hotels for you to sleep every night when you are on the road. You will be local, regional and OTR it all depends where you are when they receive the call from a customer. You might be delivering a load in Tampa,FL and they have a load going to TX near you, that will be you .Company supplied uniforms that are picked up and washed for you. 99% of loads are no tarp and the few that are they ask you before hand, most of the time.
The big loads are done by the company favorites, its like a club and to get in that "CLUB" there are a few requirements....
1) You have to be a good old boy.
2) Owner has to like you
3) You have to be a good old boy....
Pay. You can take home $1000 to $2000 a week if you are lucky and are in the right place at the right time. Pay is by percentage of the load, the bigger the load the more it pays.
Most loads require escorts either private escorts or a combination of private and police escorts. Sometimes you sit waiting on permits and you do not get compensated for any detention or waiting.
In general is a good company to work for if you can stay off the radar, and that is not easy to do. Dispatchers never give you enough information ,treating the info like a top secret thing that only makes the driver suffer because you don't have all the tools to do your job. Then they hold it against you when they make you late because of little info All people in the office in the main roles are related so be careful who you talk to. Safety person is new to the industry and most of the time is useless for any information about loads, permits and rules. He is learning so your best bet will be the dispatchers or other drivers.
