The company was founded in 1970 by its current president, Herbert L. Fluharty. From its humble beginnings as a one man pipeline surveying and engineering firm, Mears has grown steadily and profitably to become one of the most respected engineering and construction firms in the entire United States.
During the formative years and up until 1980, Mears flourished as an upper Midwest civil engineering company serving pipeline contractors and major developers.
