At Medical Care Development, we know what a small but infinitely committed group of people can accomplish. As planners, developers, and operators of health facilities, services, and programs, our reach extends from Maine to Madagascar. We define success by how much we improve the health and well-being of the people we serve. In the face of today’s pressing global health issues such as malaria, heart disease, cancer, aging and disability, we are committed to doing more.
We are Medical Care Development:
MCD Communities – More than 500 dedicated employees serving 300+ special needs Maine residents around the state, with programs, services and 24/7 facilities that enable our clients to function as independently as possible and participate as much as they are able in their communities. Working to change the model from “assisted living” to “living with assistance,” MCD Communities serves seniors dealing with physical dependencies or loss of cognitive function, people living with mental health challenges, and people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. MCD Communities also offers an extensive portfolio of in-person and on-line training and certification programs for health care personnel.
MCD Public Health (MCDPH) – Thirty highly qualified public health professionals and support staff who are passionate about our mission to improve the health and well-being of people. Our programs range in focus from early identification and best-practice treatment of chronic diseases such as diabetes to risk factor reduction and our efforts to help teens avoid alcohol and drugs, promoting healthy behaviors. MCDPH bridges quality improvement efforts in health care and public health. We are committed to bringing people and organizations together to increase our collective impact.
MCD International (MCDI) includes a staff of 24 in our Silver Springs, Maryland headquarters and, depending on program implementation and resource needs, anywhere from 100-250 other committed individuals, working as far afield as Equatorial Guinea, Benin, and the island of Madagascar. MCDI is a leader in malaria prevention, diagnosis and treatment. MDCI has documented expertise in the implementation of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) projects. Additional areas of focus include maternal and child health, child survival programs, and HIV initiatives. MCDI’s mission, ultimately, is to enhance the well being of peoples and communities in developing nations. – less
