Productive and Caring Facility
Patient Care Technician (Former Employee), Jacksonville, FLMay 9, 2014
Pros: benefits, pay, promotions, opportunity to work over-time, shift-differential pay, activities
Cons: long shifts, stress
A typical busy day on average. Whether it was working in Critical Care or Cardiovascular ICU there was also something to do. Learned to how care for the ill in depth, new medical conditions, treatments, and prognosis. On average co-workers were team members. Everything that occurred in the unit was handled as a team to care for our patients. The job – more... was a little stressful being that it was a 12.5 hour shift inside a building. Most enjoyable part of the job was the progression health status of the patient and being able to help patient family and visitors. Also, SAVING LIVES and improving healthcare. – less

Productive and very busy CVICU
Critical Care RN (1988) (Current Employee), Jacksonville, FLApril 11, 2014
Pros: i have a job
My typical day at work is twelve hour day shifts in the CVICU. I usually work three to four shifts per week. The most enjoyable part of the job is caring for my critical care patients and witnessing them get well. The hardest part of the job is when patient's do not do well.

Productive and fun environment
Registered Nurse - ER (Former Employee), Jacksonville, FLApril 6, 2014
I enjoyed working in the ER here until our management changed and the way we were treated declined to childish.

This was my first job as an RN. I started in t he ER with my GN and had an awesome preceptor that taught me the real life skills to go with what I learned in school.

My co-workers worked in a team environment as much as possible with how – more... busy the ER was in a day. – less

Working at Memorial Hospital was a great learning experience.
Patient Transporter (Former Employee), jacksonville, flNovember 18, 2013
While I worked at Memorial Hospital Of Jacksonville, I learned a lot of things about healthcare. I was a great feeling I got everyday going to work, and that is what inspired me to become a medical assistant.

Understaffed when I worked there
Registered Nurse (Former Employee), Jacksonville, FLAugust 26, 2013
Cons: understaffed
I worked at Memorial for one year on the weekends and there was not one weekend that I was not running around going insane! That place was so understaffed it was crazy! They also had some of the smallest rooms with just too much stuff in them; tables, chairs, two beds, if anyone would've coded you wouldn't have been able to even get to them for all – more... the stuff in the way! People were very clickish too, they hung together and if you asked for help, they "may" help you and they "may not!" I wasn't very happy there. When my one year was up I was out of there! – less

Fun to work
Medical Technologist (Generalist) (Current Employee), Jacksonville, FlAugust 18, 2013
Pros: close to where i live
Cons: the salary is not good, very low compare to other hospital.
Night shifters are always short, in my case i am always toxic have to cover all departments when somebody goes to lunch aside from covering 2 to 3 departments as your regular work. Learned a lot from my job supervisors are good. Co-workers are awesome except for 1 or 2 that will spoil your night. Learned not to pay any attention to it anyway and work – more... my best to make my night better and stress free. Hardest part of the job is net picking for irrelevant stuff. I love working with almost all of my co- worker from every shift they are all nice and caring. – less
