Very good company
pharmacy (Current Employee) –  53rdFebruary 8, 2017
This is a very good company but at the same time a very racist company, Mostly the pharmacy department in the outpatient 53rd street. You hear the rumors but seeing is shocking. If you are black, you have to work harder, you have to be more polished or else you will be looked at as less competent. It hurts me to say that about such a good company but its the truth...This is coming from a Asian man.
Pros
Good and fair scheduling
Cons
Not much job security

Unit Coordinator/Secretary (Former Employee) –  New York, NYJanuary 24, 2017
A caring environment the staff is very dedicated on what they do. It's a very fast paced place to work depending where in the hospital you are designated to. The hardest aspect of this place is how you see peoples life taken away and the efforts that are put in to survive. The most enjoyable is putting a smile on a patients face and making a difference.
Pros
Healthy cafeteria
Cons
you forget to take your break becuase your always on the go

Good and caring hospital especially it's support staff.
Environmental Service Aide (Former Employee) –  New York, NYFebruary 26, 2017
Good experienced, gained.
Great doctors and amazing nurses.
Patient care first and the staff for the main part are dedicated. Those in lead positions can be out of touch with the day to day running of the hospital but the core of it's employees, like the support staff, doctors and especially the nurses that work there are it's greatest asset.

Session Assistant II (Current Employee) –  Basking Ridge, NJJanuary 13, 2017
The Basking Ride site was a difficult place to work. I worked there for 4 years and there is little support from management in the Medical Oncology department. Session Assistants are expected to get patients onto the schedule last minute with little to no support. The job absolutely comes first, they do not care if you have somewhere to be after work, if they need you to stay late or you cannot complete all of your work by the end of your shift you are expected to stay. If you are a non-essential employee you are still expected to come in during storms and dangerous weather.

OR TECHNICIAN (Former Employee) –  New JerseyJanuary 24, 2017
a typical day is the patients care and flow of the office. I've learned the importance of patient care. The hardest part of the job is to hear about the passing of the patients and the most enjoyable part is how the staff and patients become like family because we see them so often.
Pros
when the staff comes together and eat.
Cons
the frequent turn around of new empoyees

Coordinator (Current Employee) –  New York, NYOctober 18, 2016
great benefits, great learning environment. depending on where you land, some managers tend to micromanage leading to unhappy employees. Compensation should be higher given the work load. complete job security because there is a lot of work that needs to get done. as far as career advancement, you will get ahead when your manager is ready to let you go. otherwise, you will end up leaving the institution to then return.
Pros
medical/dental benefits
Cons
micromanagers; career advancement can be blocked

Day and Life of working in Facilities Management Division
Manager, Facilities Administrative Services (Current Employee) –  New York, NYMarch 2, 2017
My typical work day begins with reviewing emails that were sent overnight.
Ensuring that all of MSK's elevators are working to full capacity, reviewing any employees who called in sick or emergency vacation days.
Checking in with Sr VP and VP's to make sure there are priorities that must be dealt with first thing in the morning.
The hardest part of my job is managing the elevators, we have over 100+ elevator units, ensuring they are all working properly, checking in with the elevator supervisor and in house mechanics.
Being in constant contact with the hospital's elevator contractor to ensure that any down elevators are attended to immediately.
The most enjoyable part of my job is communicating with end users in ensuring they have the available resources in ensuring our patients are comfortable.
Pros
Ensuring patient safety
Cons
Slow in career advancement
