Catering Assistant/Supervisor, Lisburn, NIR - December 1, 2014
The best part of my job was the strong team members I worked alongside, who were very friendly and worked extremely well together to provide very high standards of customer service, and who made some very demanding experiences a lot easier. I also greatly enjoy making people happy and believe that there is nothing more important than great customer service, this was made very easy with the great support network of my co-workers. I feel I have learned a lot from this job, developing great customer service skills, and strategic thinking. That I thrive in challenging situations and that I am always looking for the opportunity to learn and develop new skills. A typical day at work consisted of barista duties, till operation, proving great customer service, dealing with customer grievances, restocking food stations, cooking, preparing and serving food to tables, all cleaning duties, washing dishes and re-stacking shelves, and closing down the restaurant at the end of the day.. Although the job was demanding and sometimes draining due to under staffing, the most difficult parts of the job were not getting paid for hours worked almost every month, not getting paid at all for any overtime, or not getting any holidays for over a year. I found the store manager to be very helpful and fair. I did unfortunately find my line manager to have a haphazard approach to dealing with issues and a bulling attitude towards staff members which he was suspended for 3 weeks- due to complaints by other staff members. My supervisor has also been suspended for unwanted psychical advances towards some female waiting staff.
